          Pat Riley

“SADDDDDDD!!!! SO saddddddd! I will never forget the sixth game in Dallas in 2006. DW rebounded the ball, and threw it to the heavens and the Heat universe was perfect for that moment. Our first world championship. Our universe is not perfect today. It will be fraught with anger, judgment, blame instead of THANK YOU!!! Ten years ago. Ten years older. Ten years wiser. Ten years changed. All of us.

Dwyane had a choice, and he made it. He went home. Bad, bad summer for us. But there will be another 10 years, and it will be someone or something else in 2026. Move on with no blood or tears. Just thanks. I truly loved Dwyane, but families grow, change and get on with another life. He will always be a part of us. ALWAYS! And no more bruises and enough fighting. Let’s just fly above it if we can and never forget. I feel his pain and pride for what pushed him over the ledge. Been there. Forever, for always, your coach I will be. FOREVER!”

Sources on @TheVertical: Miami RFA guard Tyler Johnson has signed offer sheet w/ the Brooklyn Nets: 4-years, $50M. Heat has 3 days to match.
Would be rubbing salt to the wound if Miami matches it.

            Don't do it Pat!

And with that extra $20 mil of cap space, please do not sign any McBob contracts. Only one year deals!

              re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread

Tyler comes to the Nets and the contract is $12.5 Mil on the cap all 4 years.

Riley matches that offer sheet and he's paying him close to $20 Mil in those last 2 years AND that's how much the cap hit is.

Just take this L and let him go, Riley.

How far under a Rondo/Butler screen do you drop? I'd tell my bigs to hangout courtside.

The Wade decision feels influenced by the business side of the building. He'll sell tickets in that city. Can't really fault them there.

Doesn't make much sense to not match given the circumstances. We obviously have an open spot at SG, he counts virtually nothing against the cap for us the next 2 seasons, and we can trade him at any time and he will only count 12.5 mil against any other teams cap.

I say keep him, see what he can do, trade him if it doesn't work out.

It's so interesting looking at all of Pat the Rat's moves in retrospect. So much success but so much shadiness. Now to hear he never called Wade during the whole process? That's not family lol.

I still can't believe this dude left. I dont know how to feel. Obviously I hate the Heat because they're them but D Wade is their Jeter. It's interesting to me that some of their fans choose Pat, the guy pulling the strings, over the guy who actually put the ball in the basket. If he's a wizard now he's going to have his chance to prove it. Their draft situation is not good. I'm going to enjoy the fallout of this very much.

We root for teams, not players. Which in turn causes most people to side with employer over employee, despite the fact that most of us are employees in our day to day. It's the greatest con in sports.

I wasn't reading much news/rumors/info last night - is that true about him not calling Wade? If so, that's pretty damn obvious that Riles didn't want Wade back.

How Riley handled the entire Wade situation is exactly why I can't fault guys like KD for taking their destinies into their own hands. Wade basically made every sacrifice a star player could make in order to win. He took a paycut to bring two other stars to town (where he was paid the least of the three), sacrificed his ego, and sacrificed his status to help get the franchise two more rings, only to be hardballed two years in a row at the end of his contract. It'll be hard to see him in another uniform but good for him, because loyalty is supposed to be a two-way street.
