League definitely isn't low on or void of talent.. That's a damn joke.

    Well that is the point

73 games and a unanimous vote, something that never even happened with the greatest players ever has to say something.

I understand its his opinion but taking the emotion out of it, there is an imbalance somewhere

Well, if he's talking about lack of star power/elite players then he couldn't be further from the truth. And after actually hearing his comments as opposed to just reading them only, that's what it sounded like he was trying to say.

And let's be real here, if someone wins 120 out of 121 votes(which is what happened with Shaq and Lebron)you might say they won unanimous. I wonder if T-Mac felt the same way back then about those 2.

Yeah, if this is the clip people are referencing, I'm not sure if Tracy McGrady even knows what point he's trying to make:

        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ybc326ANQdg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

On one hand, he claims the league's watered down, seemingly suggesting that's what it took for Curry to earn all the votes unanimously. Then a moment later he says LeBron James deserved at least one vote.

To be totally honest, his comments kind of had the feel of a former player turned analyst who was sort of put on the spot, whose producer told him to pick a side and run with it for 30 seconds.

As others mentioned, there's been a few guys who've fallen one vote short, often only due to a writer daring to be different. And if we're going to reference '96 and Jordan's inability to go unanimous (as the video did), he lost four votes that year - two to Penny Hardaway, and one a piece to Karl Malone and Hakeem Olajuwon. It wouldn't have been outrageous to see a similar result this year (say, two votes for James, one each for Westbrook and Leonard).

But I mean, a dude led his team to the best record ever while playing some of the most spectacular basketball any of us have ever seen, against any player and every player, any team and every team, over and over again. I don't think the void between his greatness and the level of nearly everyone else must automatically mean something's watered down. Could just mean he's been exceptionally great this year.

Steph Curry is as entertaining a player to watch since Jordan.

He is gonna make UA a ton of money.

Ok so what other team in our lifespan has been as deep as Golden State then? That's exactly what it says, this team is really damn good. And its play-style/player personnel allows Curry to be better than he likely would be on any of the other 29 teams in the league.. It's basically a perfect harmony.

Just because this team is extraordinarily loaded, and might have the best player personnel for game plan that I've ever seen doesn't mean the rest of the league is just simply watered down.

The East was stronger than it has been in years, a team with James Harden and Dwight Howard was an 8th seed. With all the vets hanging around forever and a multitude of good young players I actually believe talent wise the league is as high or higher than it has been in while.

Side note: when did they start doing these huge, overproduced press conferences to present the MVP award? Too much.

Damn, I swear, some of y'all are like 95 years old here lol. Y'all ninjas hate on everything for some ungodly reason. They've literally been doing MVP presentation press conferences for decades. Only difference is we have a channel dedicated completely to the NBA so they can carry **** like that live now for those that want to see it, instead of the snippet of the conference you'd see on your local news' sports report at 10 pm back in the day.

If you win MVP all your buckets should count as 3 and 4 points for the rest of the playoffs...

This reminds me of when I used to play NBA Jam TE on Sega Genesis and you had the option of putting point pads on the floor, where if you made a shot from one of them, it could worth anywhere from 3-8 pts.

Would mess around and score like 160 in a single game, lol....Man I miss that game..

Houston was an eight seed because Harden and Howard rarely make plays with each other. They are like two kids engaged in parallel play. Houston also doesn't play defense, move the ball quickly, move the bodies, or take smart shots.

It's unlikely that Golden State would beat the 96 Bulls, 01 Lakers, or 03 Spurs in a seven game series.

The game has moved to everyone running screen/rolls with different personnel and a few wrinkles. The three point explosion has also taken away from mid-range accuracy. San Antonio's performance in this area last night was poor and basically cost them the game. It has cost many teams now more so than ever.

He'd know because all of his teams were watered down. He had nobody to work with.

Still to the point, like I originally stated, the process is what's the issue if you can even call it one.

I don't think LeBron should've not gotten at least 1 1st place vote.

I got into one discussion with a guy who sentimentalized the '90s. He likes the Bad Boy Pistons, Knicks (he's a Knicks fan), Pacers from that era when they used to knock guys down instead of give up layups.

Curry playing against lesser competition now. Derrick Harper would have locked Curry down.

Fair enough lol. But it does seem to be more of a produced event than it used to be. I swear Stern used to just hand the guy the trophy at half-court during a game.
