If this ever goes through than the NBA has once again jumped the shark.

I don't understand the logic behind this.

If the NBA wants to fix the game they need they need the refs to start calling fouls evenly. Don't give star treatment and a foul in the first min should be called the same in the last minute.

I can't even begin to tell you how crappy the NBA product is right now.

Also I'm not surprised Stu Jackson has a hand in this........... Grizzlies .... cough

But the thought behind it is to force a mid-range game and thus raise field goal percentages by stopping all the long range bombing.

Do the fans really want to see a forced mid range game when more than 70% of the league can't even hit a mid-range shot with consistency in the first place.

If the NBA was serious about improving their game every team should have a full-time shooting coach and I wish more players would work on their fundamentals in college instead of the NBA.

Do the fans really want to see a forced mid range game when more than 70% of the league can't even hit a mid-range shot with consistency in the first place.

It almost definitely won't happen, but that idea is the WORST idea I may have ever heard in sports. If you do make a change, why change to something that makes the last five minutes (when games are decided) a completely different game from the first 43? I hope they don't even use that idea in developmental leagues like they were saying...it has no merit.

The lack of a mid range games comes from the lackadaisacal (sp) attitude players have when it comes to the fundamentals. I also think that the problem comes down to coaching. There are very few coaches in college and the pros who are willing to get tough on their star players when it comes to things like this. I can only think of 3 coaches in college or pro who really emphasis the fundamentals and they are Larry Brown, Bobby Knight and Jim Boeheim. (sp) Until we start seeing coaches get tough on their players and actually coach rather than being high priced motivational speakers then we're still going to see this problem.

Ban Tres till the end of the game, you cant be serious. What will guys like Steve Kerr and Antoine Walker do for the first 43 minutes of the game? Run around like lost puppies tryna penetrate into the hole? I dont think so. If this rule actually gets through then I can already see owners hiring players just to shoot 3 pointers and ride the bench until the very last 5 minutes of the game.
