If anything, with the concussion problem football will always have just by it's nature, I think the NBA will only close the gap on the NFL even though they can never hope to be equals to the NFL. As long as they can stay equal to or ahead of baseball in urban areas, basketball will be just fine. If anything, basketball is more threatened by soccer than baseball, but even then....
Maybe to you (and even me) but you're seriously mistaken on most of this country. The NBA will never come anywhere close to the NFL, and is still far behind the MLB in terms of fans.

And the bold is all anyone that jumps in these arguments is ever trying to say... honor the other players for what they are, because it's insulting to all of them forcing a comparison to the person 99.9% believe is the GOAT by a large margin still.

This isn't true though, especially the "large margin" part.. Are there people who believe exactly that, sure. But 99.9% of basketball fans, that's a ****ing joke lmao.

        Great.

Figure out the exact percentage, correct mine, then feel free to move on to the important part of the post.

You can't beat MJ in the fourth quarter he took over and the game was over. Hands down the greatest! MJ is the greatest closer of all time with Kobe a close second.

Without listening to ESPN, what has Kobe ever "closed out" to show that he's even in the conversation with someone like MJ in that regard. Or even other clutch players. Hell even LeBron in the playoffs.

Kobe had that season where he hit a bunch of wild game winners in the REGULAR SEASON, I don't remember which year.. But what is his big playoff moments? The only one that I can think of that really stands out is the Phoenix shot, and I think they lost that series anyways.

In the clutch Bryant would do whatever was necessary to win. He would come up with the serious traffic rebound or the loose ball. He would courageously carry the ball to the basket and finish or drop a dime. He had the size, quickness, and competitiveness to bear down with a big solo defensive stop. More than just hitting game-winning shots, Bryant could resort to other aspects of his total game.

So have lots of other players too no??

I don't remember any Kobe game winning assist though for the "drop a dime" part of that.

Oh, for sure, MJ, West, Oscar and all the great wings would come up big in the clutch. Kobe belongs in that group.
How about Kobe's perfect lob pass to Shaq in the last minute of game 7 of the WCF? A demoralizing play that put the game on ice. Kobe was always a creative passer.

I can't stand the notion that "closing" a game out means hitting a game-winner. There's so many plays that lead up to it that are just as important. Despite what Uncle Drew says, the game isn't just about buckets.

Yeah, he's probably a young buck, lol.

Great players can play in ANY era - they would make the necessary adjustments.
