His rookie season he played a bit and showed some scoring ability, but by his 2nd and 3rd season he was showing a lot of potential with the great athletic ability which allowed him to score as well as block a lot of shots.

There was a lot of Jermaine O'Neil talk, but I don't ever remember hearing about McGrady being a bust.Originally posted by keRplunK

Re: The Future looks DARKO...
Actually, no one thought either was a bust. McGrady needed more weight, O'neal more minutes, but they both had avearge rookie years. Right now, Darko is useless. Maybe next year....Originally posted by keRplunKWe'll see. Everyone was saying McGrady was a bust, Jermaine O'Neil was a bust etc etcHank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

"If there's an easy way to bring a teenager into pro ball, someone ought to tell the NBA. Tracy McGrady was a bust his first season in Toronto and didn't even look like a player until his third year." From a magazine.Originally posted by HMcCoyActually, no one thought either was a bust. Jermaine Oneil was taking flack for being a bust for ahwhile, hell, he got traded for Dale Davis. Dale Davis was a solid player, but if you thought Portland was thinking he was a superstar in the making and they made the deal anyways, your crazy.
By year he averaged:
1: 4.1
2: 4.5
3: 2.6
4: 3.9
5: 12.9
He didn't get any playing time though? Umm, do you see Darko getting any playing time? They were both on very established teams.
Then you factor in that there is a language difference, country difference, etc etc
So essentially we won't know for about 4 more years. If he averages 4 points a game for the next 3 years I know what people will be saying, so seriously just be quiet about all this Darko is a bust crap.
If he hasn't figured it out by his 5th and 6th years, than go ahead.Comment

Yeah...he's 19.
The rumor around here is that he is being relagated to the end of the bench till he can learn to control himself off the court.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

Re: The Future looks DARKO...
You cant say T MAC was a bust his 1st year because he hardly ever played!
And the same goes for Darko if you never get on the court because you are so young that doesnt make you a bust!ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: The Future looks DARKO...
JO was never considered a bust. The Blazers loved him, and Scottie Pippen even said he would one day be a superstar. The simple fact was they didnt have nay PT to give him.
And I would argue the Blazers were hoping Dale to produce a whole lot better than he has. I know I wouldnt mind Indy getting him back, on Antonio for that matterComment
