Re: OS NBA Players Rating: Player #6 - Antoine Walker

    6

He would deserve an 8 if he didn't like to shoot that many 3's. If he only shot the 3 when open wide, then he would sink it more often. But he likes to make the fans pray each time he gets the ball on the perimeter.

And also he would get an 8 if he focused more on inside play, as others said. He has the body and has the moves. If he used it he would be one of the best PF's in the game.

Walker gets too much props for what he CAN do, not for what he actually does. Points for potential is not my style. The guy, for his size and abilities, takes more 3s than free throws. Probably the worst shot selection in the entire league (I'm not even reaching here, I'm being honest).

Incredible handle. Great passer. Below average rebounder because he's rarely in the post. Great court vision.

But, a guy who I would cringe if he were ever on my team. Simply can't trust him.
Well said. I gave him a 4 for the simple fact that I would NEVER want to see him join my favorite team. He's a solid scorer, but he seems to have that definitely Elton Brand type quality that he will just never play on a great team. It's hard for teams to win when their PF is standing out by the 3 point line the whole game. It messes up letting the guards do their job and it leaves the post pretty much empty.

A good scorer, but I can't give a guy a score above 5 if I would be mad if he ever joined my favorite team.

Big East how can you logicaly say that Crawford is better then Antoine Walker? Im probably 1 of the biggest Antoine Walker detractors you'll find i absolutley hate him but c'mon how is he worse then Crawford? Other then the fact that Crawfords a Knick?
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

To be honest, I'm going on what I've seen.

I've watched Antoine Walker since Kentucky and was in love with him as a player. Pitino had this guy wanting to play defense. Even when he came in the league, I liked him. But when O'Brien gave him the green light, this kid never looked back. I've seen MANY more games of Walker than I have of Crawford. To rely on Antoine in the playoffs is scary. And there's the difference. Crawford has never been in a big game. Walker has.

All I've seen of Crawford is when he played against the Knicks as a Bull and this year's preseason games. He's lit the Knicks up as a Bull (from the little I've seen) and looked fairly decent so far.

Maybe you can say, I've seen too much of Walker and too little of Crawford. I know Crawford's reputation, but I've seen Walker's shortcomings.

I had visions of nightly triple doubles when Walker was at Kentucky. And for those visions to crumble into 3-18s and 2-11s from 3point range is too much for me.

I'll be the first to criticize Crawford as a Knick. Trust me. But I'm just going on what I've seen from all the players being rated.

I give toine a solid 8 for what he should be. If anyone watched the heat blowout the hawks, they saw the kind of player toine should be: an inside guy with a soft touch around the basket, a bevy of postup moves and a pretty good rebounder to boot. In o'briens offense in boston, he was allowed to be lazy and he drifted outside...that toine is no better than a 6.

Umm, 9 rebounds per game is good for a point forward...

Also good for a perennial poor shooting team.
Lower team shooting percentages and higher team rebounds usually correlate.

I give Walker a 7 because he is one of those border-line players from being great. If a team wants a three-point specialist, he's your guy.
