Looking at player tracking real quick.

Over 70% of his shots are still assisted on, nearly 80% with 0-1 dribble.. also 60% of his passes are to Tim Frazier, which is exactly what I was talking about with him just throwing the ball back to the top of the key if he doesn't have a shot.

This is exactly what I wasn't a big fan of NO doing even when they were making the playoffs. He's too good of a player, freak of a player, to not have him drawing defenses and making their offense more dynamic.

Teams, IMO anyways, will gladly let him just take those jumpers if it means nobody else on the team is consistently getting clean looks. And that's not going to get them anywhere even with their missing guys back.

Maybe a full roster will lead to something a little different, we'll see!

Evans should be another boost but I'd be more worried about him getting back to form.

I really thought Jones would be a great addition, especially early on with so many missing. He's been practically invisible.
If Jones can turn into the Jones of like 2 years ago (both offensively and defensively), then he would be a nice fit beside AD. I'm not sure if he can though.

That's because AD is having two and sometimes three guys going at him as soon as (and sometimes before) he catches the ball. So he has to put it up as soon as he catches it or face a double/triple team. Not to mention that it's hard to make the guys around you better when no one can consistently hit open shots.

      Jones is 0/5 from 3
      Galloway is 0/9
      Buddy is 1/14
Hill is 4/12 but he was 1/8 before going 3/4 last night

When you have Tim Frazier, E'Twann Moore and Dante Cunningham as your best outside shooters, then you're probably not going to win very many games. I mean, they're shooting 23% from 3 as a team. It's hard to be a facilitator when there's no one to facilitate to.

AD is only averaging 2.5 assist per game if players could hit their open shots, then he could at least double that number. Right now him passing mainly hurts the team. He needs to say screw it turn into the big version of Westbrook at least until Jrue returns.

Right now it's almost like teams aren't worried about if he gets his because they know they can still win. He for sure doesn't have much to work with, but him just getting the ball at the top of the key and shooting or getting it back to whoever is up top isn't really giving them much of a shot at having a good enough offense to steal a few wins while guys are out.

I feel like Davis just does a whole awful lot of catch and shoot. Which he's pretty much an automatic mid-range threat, but I feel like he needs to force other defenders to react for anyone else on his team to make plays. Those guys, outside of Frazier, can't make anything for themselves, and they get stuck having to do that without Davis being utilized as a bigger part of their ball movement.

He's not KG though. Without digging too deep in the comparison but this is similar to the comparisons of LBJ to Jordan but in the opposite direction. KG's range didn't extend much beyond 20 and wasn't ever off the dribble or nearly as consistent. Even mentally, his focus was more as a facilitator.

I think a more accurate thing to say would be that the team isn't currently built to best utilize his skills. Yes, KG rarely had much talent around him, but it probably fit who he was better than what AD has around him right now. If you have Holiday, Frasier and a healthy Evans, AD can pick his spots more, probably have more room to catch on the high/low post and have room to work, and the spot up shooting would also not look as bad.

          .

Idk I haven't saw much of this double/triple team stuff..

That would actually be what's best for them though, because these guys would get open. If he was getting triple teamed every play guys would get layups, it wouldn't be dependent on who can or can't make a three.

This also has little to do with AD.

Jones hasn't taken a 3 on a pass from AD, Hield hasn't, Galloway has only taken 1, Lance hasn't, Hill only 1.

That's my point, AD being used like this means the majority of his passes are meaningless. He's not making plays for anyone, he's not going to make extra possessions for them because he's away from the rim, he's just going to score 30 a night and lose, honestly.

Fast start for the Wizards as they shoot out to a 12 point lead.

Lowry had to leave the game to get stitches for a cut on his cheek.

Nance looking good, I'll like to see him take that mid range J a lot more and quit being hesitant to shoot.

Nice start against Detroit so far. Showed up offensively as well.

Lin got the braids tonight so you know what that mean. #BBM

Wizards shooting themselves in the foot with too many turnovers. I think Trey Burke has half of them, though.

Starters are playing great offensively and Otto is scrappy tonight with a double double halfway through the 3rd.
