Huh? Of course I can blame them for not performing. They're calling out their teammates and if you look at the comments about taking shots "you better had made before" were directly at Zipser and Niko who took some stupid 3 point shots down the stretch as soon as the ball touched their hands. Their performance on offense definitely was a problem last night, but the bigger issue was letting Atlanta waltz down the court and drain 3 straight uncontested 3's when they were up 10, then letting Schroeder march right into the paint to take the lead. Defensively they all failed, including those two. They're calling guys out based on what happened offensively when what happened on the defensive end was the more egregious issue.
Obviously the front office is the ultimate problem with this team and a change needs to be made, but we know that's a problem that isn't going to be fixed in January even if Jerry fired everybody tomorrow. That issue has nothing to do with what Dwyane and Jimmy did wrong last night.

Bulls fans, do you like burgers and beer?
Knicks fans might have some space for you at the bar. We can talk about the 90s and how good it once was."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Personally, I think I'm admittedly old school in regard to the talking. I'd have no problem with a coach saying what these two did. For one, it's the coaches job to analyze the team in this way, as well motivate them to be better. But also (kind of along the lines of what King is saying here), just bc you're a better player doesn't mean you're above criticism... and when you lay the criticism on as thick as this, it makes it sound like you think you are. That easily and likely leads to more resentment than motivation, and also pretty much says you're not going to do anything different to improve yourself in those situations.
The biggest reason I don't like this coming from players is most aren't good at it. No matter what they mean, it doesn't come off in a helpful way for anyone. Some mean exactly what they say and their thoughts and wants aren't really in the best interest of the team. These guys are amazing at basketball, and some are also amazing in what leadership means for a basketball player. Neither of these things means they are also amazing at analyzing what happened on the court while they were playing, what another player did or didn't do in a certain situation, etc. There's a reason the player/coach thing didn't work out for too long.
Just stay in your lane... if you want to sort something out with individual teammates, do it in practice or the locker room. People are paid to make these type of statements/assessments. If you don't think they're doing their job, talk to the guy above them.Comment

Jeff Teague 20 8 and 13 tonight. Actually Teague Turner and PG all did their thing, combined for 75 points.
