Early on in his career, most definetly. But as he grew older, he became much more of a team player. But I'm sure he was still arrogant.

Kobe is and probably always will be arrogant. Right now, he's still pretty selfish too. It may take something like a season with no playoffs for Kobe to realize that he can't do it by himself.

We'll just have to wait and see...

If you've watched any of Kobe this year, you can't say that he is playing selfishly, you just can't!

As far as the arrogance, yeah, he's arrogant, Donald Trump is also arrogant, most successful people are. So what?

no love for kobe's effort this year, with great numbers and a .500 team who is expected to fail

just sad that basketball fans refuse to talk basketball

                  Re: Kobe is an arrogant...

It's simple, you bring them up to tear them down.

Kobe was so hyped up with the MJ stuff and has so much success at such a young age, people got sick of it. Following his trial, the media has now found the "villian" of the NBA. Everything he does, he gets the most publicity. Blown out of proportion. The media built up the Shaq and Kobe feud more than Shaq and Kobe did.

                  Examples:
The media comes up to Kobe, asking him about if he wants to be alone, if he wants to be a leader, etc. When things get toa a boiling point Kobe says he is tired of deferring to Shaq, who did not work at all in the offseason, while Kobe was busting his tail every off season waiting for a chance. Shaq even stayed quiet after that statement. But again, the Jim Greys and his buddies keep after him, and he lose's his cool, and says stuff. There you have, Kobe and Shaq fighting for the team.

In a different case, Ron Artest, in SLAM Magazine said "I was the best player on the best basketball team. I beleive that makes me an MVP canidate. He said that with a guy named Jermaine O'Neil on the team. How much publicity did that comment get (before the whole rap thing). Could you imagine how it would be if Kobe said those comments?

He has passed the ball a lot more this year, but he still does take many questionable shots.

My problem with him isn't that he's arrogant, it's that a lot of his fans won't admit it. But I'm glad to see three Kobe fans on here have admitted that he is.

I am not purely a Kobe fan. I am a Laker fan, which makes me a Kobe fan by default. I want him to do well because I want the Laker team to win. He s gonna be arrogant and a prick. Who cares? I just care whether he can make a W.
