Key point about Rodman though is that just about every book I've read from teammates of his, they all say he loved the game + was a gym freak + loved the spotlight + had a 'need' to play. Even at 43 or whatever he is, he's still playing.

Guys close to him knew he wouldn't walk away from the game etc.

Also, he never had the 'multi year' type deal that players like Artest have nowadays. In other words, he was a relatively 'safe' risk.

I dont know, its a damn shame Im only 19. I wish I was at least 21 so everytime Artest made a *** of himself I could just go to my room and

Then again I would probably be an alcoholic.

          Agreed.

The facts are, there's a lot of people who have serious mental issues in our society. People act as though a guy is immune from mental disease because he's a sports star and "hey, he's got a great life" etc.

Money and fame doesn't solve stuff like that. He seems genuinely to have serious issues...

You seem to have forgotten / neglected that he did screw up in the play offs last year...right when it mattered most, missing training / being late / migraines / personal stuff...

And that this has been going on for years...

              It's not something new.

It has also been reported that he has been prescribed medication but refused to take them because he feels like they really slow him down to mcuh

Whos fault is that? If this is true and he refuses to take his meds, sorry, maybe Im just a *******, but if that turns out to be true I dont feel sorry for him

well i don't see how you can justify a person taking time off to go promote their cd, during the regular season. These people are getting paid to play, the least the can do is try.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

Have you got any idea how many people with mental illness refuse to take their medications?

It's not a small number...and that's part of the problem.

In their minds, there's nothing wrong.

I have a friend whose sister is shcizophrenic...and her sis rarely takes her medication. They've tried everything. It's a sad thing to see
