4/4 - 4/12 Games Discussion Thread
Man I'm convinced that this season is the "Year of People getting in their feelings over nothing". Another "Why can't you play the unwritten rules?" rant from another player
MEMPHIS – Another Knicks defeat was closing on its predictable conclusion when a little-known Grizzlies reserve threw up a final insult for free chicken sandwiches.
And it managed to tick off the Knicks.
Instead of dribbling out the clock with a 10-point lead, Wade Baldwin hoisted – and made – a 41-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer of Memphis’ 101-88 victory Friday. Courtney Lee tried to chase down and confront Baldwin for the disrespectful move but was too late. Since the shot sent the Grizzlies over the 100-point mark, it meant everyone in the crowd was eligible for a free chicken sandwich as part of a promotion – sending the fans into the loudest ovation of the night and probably inflaming the situation.
“By the time I got over there to that area he was already trying to get the crowd hyped and walking through the tunnel. Like nobody is getting hyped for you, bro,” Lee said. “You just shot the ball at the end because you wanted to score 100 points. Nobody is going to remember you or that shot.”
Lee was ultimately eased by Grizzlies players who said they’d lecture Baldwin, a 21-year-old rookie, who played less than three minutes Friday.
“I guess he was hungry,” Lee said. “Mike Conley, Marc (Gasol) and Vince (Carter), they told me they were going to say something to him in the locker room. So I just let them handle that.”
“We’ll see them next year. But (Baldwin) might be in the D-League.”
Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek indicated he also had an issue with Baldwin’s shot, responding with, “I played in the 80s and 90s,” referencing the more combative time in the NBA. Just this week the Pacers and Raptors nearly brawled because Lance Stephenson converted an unnecessary layup down the stretch of Indiana’s blowout win.
“You don’t do that. You saw what happened with Lance Stephenson and the Pacers,” Lee said. “I mean, everybody has seen that and for him to do that, it’s like what are you doing it for, bro?”

Lee is so sure he will be back. That's the funny part to me."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Nets clinch a guaranteed top 4 pick last night.
I tested the ESPN Mock Lottery thing the other day. First two tries saw the Lakers picking first with the Celtics dropping third. Third attempt saw the Celtics dropping down to fourth. Then I got mad and closed the site. Have to hope we have better luck the day of the lottery.Comment

They even rig the Mock Lottery thing to acclimate people to the idea that the lakers are going to get the first pick. Good work espn.Comment

It's ok, King.
There's no shame in losing to A Future NBA Championship Team. 🤜🏾
Sucks that it's our last home game of the year but we'll have plenty of them next year once April-May roll around.#RespectTheCultureComment

Also, Rudy Gobert just became the 12th player in history to post 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 200 blocks in a season

Ya, first one all year. But first of many since NBA always slots them at 12 for weekend playoff games. Hate how it happens. Athletes are creatures of habit, and suddenly putting them in an unfamiliar schedule during most important part of year just because of tv ratings is stupid.
Just setting up the inevitable 10th or however many straight game 1s the Raptors have lost.Comment
