Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
So I know news travels fast in the NBA forums as this has probably been talked to death already but i'm shocked, SHOCKED that the Knicks are apparently trying to do something right by going after Cleveland's former GM. Somehow though, I don't think they'll get their man.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Was about to ask if you heard of the guy that tweeted that since he supposedly covered Redick in LA according to NetsDaily.#RespectTheCultureComment

Aldridge was having a throwback moment back to when the Bullets got burned by playing hardball with Juwan Howard back in 1995.
David Faulk represented Howard back then and represents Porter today. Here's the story on Howard's negotiations if you're interested: http://www.truthaboutit.net/2010/04/...llion-man.html
SpoilerYes, that's the same 2x champion, Juwan Howard, that this forum knows and loves.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
why in the heck should Ainge offer up his assets for a Rental who has repeatedly said he's going to LA? Kevin Love is a good player but if IND was that interested in him that would've been done a while ago. He really doesn't fit their timeline.
C's will probably offer more but I hardly see how Crowder/Smart and maybe Rozier and some picks is bad for a rental. if you are thinking Jaylen Brown or Tatum should be involved in the deal you are insane.
I will also I say I really want Heyward and the jokes will fly if they don't get him but the C's will still be in a good place if they whiff in FA. like their contending window won't look good but a core around Brown/Tatum/Zizic/BKN Pick/LAL pick is not bad.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
This ain't all that accurate either, because Jimmy Butler had a great contract situation and Ainge wouldn't even give up the Brooklyn pick straight up. Dude is being completely unreasonable in trade discussions and it's getting to the point that I'd rather see him epically whiff on everything he keeps sitting on his assets for.

Hold up, y'all could actually have enough room for him and LeBron?

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Celtics fans: We have a good little playoff team coming off an ECF trip. Have a chance to sign a max free agent. Lot's of young exciting talent on the roster too. Oh yeah, and two more really high potential lottery picks in 2018. Good time to be a fan.
Everyone else: Danny Ainge is bad! What the hell is he doing? Sad!Comment

2017 Offseason Thread
Indiana has zero leverage in anything involving George. They can shoot for the moon and fans can claim that teams need to offer better assets in return but until George is guaranteed to resign with whatever team trades for him the Pacers, for all intents and purposes, are at the mercy of the rest of the league. If they want to sit back, let him play out the final year and watch him walk for nothing then by all means but seeing as they aren't anywhere near winning a title it makes no sense to do that.
The only hope Indiana has is some eastern conference team truly feels that adding George, even for just one year, puts them over Cleveland and into the Finals and thus overpays for him. Based on that the only option is Boston or Cleveland themselves.
I'm not completely up on NBA news at times but Chris Paul was just traded to Houston. He informed the Clippers he was going to leave for Houston, as far as I know he didn't tell Houston that, the Clippers maintained leverage and got a decent enough package for him. Paul George went out rambling about going to LA once his deal was up, Indiana lost all leverage and now they want to act as if they still have that leverage.
Indiana won't get fair compensation for George unless Boston overpays and they got George to thank for that.
You're preaching to the choir man. You don't have to tell me we're screwed. I've been here since day 1 saying that with all these dudes on here wondering why I'm mad lol.
All I'm saying is Pritchard won't accept that deal because it does us no good in the long run. Crowder is solid, but he's 27 and not going to get much better/doesn't fit the timeline of a going young and rebuilding team. And Smart? I mean what is that guy? He can't shoot for ****. Solid defender. Doesn't look to be developing into anything more than a good rotational player IMO.
I guess it's a bit much for me to say taking that deal isn't any different than letting PG walk, but I'd rather just take Love and flip him for something than take that Boston deal.

Clearly they have the assets to land him. But it's contingent on him signing a new deal.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
No one's saying they should, I wouldn't. I'd just keep the picks and not get Paul George.
But some of you guys are acting like Indy can either take that Boston offer or lose him for nothing, and those aren't the only options.
And again, they don't have to trade him this weekend. They can waitOriginally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment
