Yeah, poor choice of words on my part. Casspi and Young are both solid, but my point is that since they signed with GS, there are people acting like they are a lot better than they actually are. Not here on OS, but on r/nba. It's just kind of funny. At this point, GS could sign Jimmer and people would cry about how unfair it is.

I am heated over my Celtics have very good established players and top 3 lottery pick talents at the same position. Burn to whole operation to the ground.

Here's how this is going to go:

Show me a star who's signed with a small market, that market isn't small enough.

Show me a guy who went to a really small market, he only went there because he's from there.

Show me a guy who turned down a big market to go to a small market, he isn't a big enough star to count.

Show me a big market that can't sign guys, lol that's because they aren't winning enough it's not their market size.

There's no point in this. Meanwhile look at all of these teams ranked above the Spurs in market size that get more free agents than them: Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, the Supersonics who were ripped out of their market (15) to be taken to Oklahoma City (41), the Pistons, the Suns.

Sounds like the Warriors are going to have a even better bench then the year before. Iggy, Livingston return, Swaggy P and Caspi. Just need a off the bench big and they will be good. Who needs big men in this day and age lol

Our 2nd best scorer last year was Al Horford, if he's your second best scorer that's not good.

You need a big. If Horford isn't a good second option for scoring AND a below average rebounder, then why on earth did you guys max him? I think Tatum and Brown will give you some good scoring this year, Tatum should be able to come in right away and provide that.

Celtics are going to get a big. Again....they have one in house and will probably pick up another. Having a legit second scorer will minimize the rebounding issue anyways but I can guarantee you Al Horford will not be the only big they have on the roster to begin the year.

I have no idea why we maxed Horford. Really don't. He's not worth the $$$ we are paying him. And I get we need a big. I would've loved for us to get Boogie, Davis isn't moving (whoever threw that name out as a possibility is a complete an utter ****ing moron, to put it bruntly), Griffin didn't even hit FA (wouldn't have minded him at all). And I feel like Danny would've traded for Boogie had Brad not been here. Brad didn't want to deal with the headache that is Boogie Cousins. And yes Brown/Tatum will provide some scoring but neither one of them is starter material on a top 2 seed right now.

Not really lol. I just want someone to show me how things are equal. Like I said, there's examples you can throw out, but for every one you give I can double that list for big markets.

As for the bold - you can't ask for examples of signings and then wipe it away once you put it in context.

I don't know what GS is considered honestly. I know a few weeks back when we had a similar discussion people were talking that city up though.

As for the last part, not much different than all the cherry picking everyone else is using. But fine.. y'all can have LeBron. Throw in LMA too.

Nets, Pacers, Kings, Jazz coming on strong to land Kelly Olynyk. Pacers are trying to shed salary to land him, per Sam Amick.

Horford was maxed to make a run at Durant. He is also definitely worth it when you look around and see what other guys are getting maxed. He's not a stat sheet filler but he played a huge role in what IT did last year.

All I've seen of "major signings for big markets" is Melo, LeBron, and Hayward though. Unless I'm missing a page here.

Were people saying it was equal or were they saying that there are numerous factors going into the decision, which you've already acknowledged but somehow continue to push the narrative that market size is the main determinant?

If people are in this much of a ruckus over Hayward joining Boston, I can't wait to see the hot takes when Paul George and either Westbrook or LeBron go to the Lakers next year.

Just because other dudes are getting overpaid doesn't make Horford worth the money sorry. There are probably on 25-30 guys in the league that are worth $30M per year.
