Didn't realize this is the last year of Bradley's deal, then he'll likely get the same payday KCP wanted. No clue if he even wants to stay here, but if he bolts all we'll be left with from this whole thing is a 2nd rounder, eek

Number of titles Juwan Howard had before LeBron: 0
Number of playoff teams Juwan Howard was part of before LeBron: 5
Number of times Howard's team advanced past the 1st round: 1
I think Juwan Howard might have mentored LeBron in how to deal with a receding hairline, but ... doesn't seem like Juwan really brought a wealth of postseason success to LeBron's teams.
Granted, I'm pretty sure the Heat players all loved Juwan and respected him being the vet he was, but I think the overall impact was negligible.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
damn the cap just had to go down a little bit. I will really miss Bradley. He's going to command a massive contract... Jae's Contract is one of the best in the league and Smart is cheaper and will be easier to retain thus they had to move him. He's a great on ball defender but not as great off ball. Smart's not as good on ball but probably more versatile. Nice pickup to get Morris when C's had little leverage. I do think it's funny they grabbed a guy that's worse at rebounding than Horford. They're small ball lineups are going to be great imo.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

2017 Offseason Thread
My reply to wwharton's post:
Spoiler
If Billionaire Ted thinks Otto is worth that offer, your Nets have many more years of pain and struggling ahead of them. But yes, it is a bit of a win/win situation for them. If the Wizards match, they helped put another team in conference in cap hell, taking them out of contention for any other FAs the Nets may be looking at. But if the Wizards don't match, the Nets (in no position to win a chip anytime soon) have a nice piece they can try to flip later, but will help make going to games at Barclay more tolerable this year.
But lets not pretend they threw that offer out there to outbid the field (or even just Utah) for Porter's services.
1. What downside is there for us signing Porter to that deal? Ownership already knows we're not going to be contending for anything for sometime and have accepted that this will be a lengthy and complete rebuild.
2. You say "we have many more years of suffering", well how is that any different than the last few years? The difference between NOW and 2 years ago is that Marks actually has a plan. He knows it's going to take some time(read: years) and since we don't have any draft picks thanks to the last GM giving those away like candy, we have to go out and find and develop talent via other means, whether that's through the G-League or thru RFA and taking a chance there or taking on salary dumps(where this NO downside for us at all)since we don't own our picks until 2019. We're pretty much doing what a team who doesn't have it's own assets should be doing. If there was a team who was strictly in player development mode, then that would be us since a championship is the FURTHEST thing on our minds, mines included.
And from a Financial Standpoint, he wouldn't affect our cap over the next few seasons because outside of Lin, everyone else on the team are on low salaries.
3. Again, what makes you think we're throwing an offer sheet at him just for the sake of throwing one or doing it to strictly screw the Wizards? We couldn't screw them if we wanted to considering that they've made it known thru the plenty of reports for the last 2 months they would match any offer. If anything, we pretty much just created the contract for the Wiz since they weren't going offer him a full 5 year max(which is what he wanted since it meant more money)and they knew other teams couldn't offer more than 4 year deal, which you know the Wizards would have no problem offering that themselves.
So knowing what you know about that offer sheet and the advantages that they had from the beginning, how exactly did we throw that offer sheet out to "strictly screw the Wizards" since we apparently don't care about Porter? I think you're still looking at us as the "old Nets" where we would throw money at anything with two legs when that's not who we are anymore.
Since Marks/Atkinson have been here, you've seen the guys we've gone after(The Spencer Dinwiddie's, Archie Goodwin's, Sean Kilpatrick's, Justin Hamilton's of the world)so why would they all of a sudden deviate from that plan and just throw a **** load of money at him if they didn't think he couldn't help them over the long term? If this was the old regime under King, I'd agree with you but there's been nothing from Marks over the last 2 years to suggest that he's throwing money out just to throw money...because they'd have no problem going into next season with the same squad and neither would I, because again, this is a long term rebuild that was going to take years anyway. And for the Nets' sake, he's not coming here anyway so we'll turn our attention towards other available FAs. If we get Porter, then cool...he's just another piece that we'll continue to develop(Despite his salary, no sane Nets fan is going to look at him as a savior or someone who will turn into an elite, All NBA-esq player). We'll continue
D's post summed it up earlier:
The Nets have no incentive to be bad, given their pick situation. The Nets don't have a foundational player like Porzingis. Nobody on the Nets current roster is likely to be around when the ship gets righted so it's best to use their one asset (unused cap space) to take wild swings on high upside, youngish players (i.e. D'Angelo Russell, Otto Porter).Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 07-07-2017, 06:23 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Per Chris Haynes, Raymond Felton has signed a 1 year deal with OKC.
Good pickup. Those young PGs weren't giving Russell any rest when he went to the bench. Low risk bringing in Felton.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Hawks and Jamal Crawford have agreed to a buyout. Speculate away on where he ends up. I saw yesterday that he and LeBron have spoken and he's interested in joining the Cavs, so all y'all 'LeBron needs more help' folks keep that in mind when you're bitching about how trash he is in June.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
He definitely doesn't fit what they need right now. They'd be wise to steer clear of this one.
