I mean.. 28 and 6 off 46% shooting. That's a max guy. If he plays like that going forward it shouldn't be an issue, no defense or not. Not like they have another option anyway unless Westbrook or someone is coming on board next year lol

I'd go 3 years for $80-85 Mil. MAYBE 4 years but I'd be hesitant on giving him a full max.

Unless Boston is at the very least in the Finals with Thomas finishing top 3 in the MVP voting, I can't see them offering him the max. This may get ugly.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Anybody know how his hip is or whatever it was that kept him out of the ECF? Is he on track to be back for the start of the season? You gotta think if he can't at least come close to looking as good as he did last year that that's going to have an impact on what deal he gets at the end of the year right?

Yeah it's dependent on this season.. I wouldn't offer it to him either if he doesn't play as well or close to the level he did last year.

                  2017 Offseason Thread

29 years old coming off a hip injury(last report was from May saying he still wasn't sure if he needs surgery)plus history shows that when undersized player's skills start to fall off, they fall off fast. That's why I'd be skeptical on a full max.

Sure you bring him back unless you can find an upgrade over him, but that also doesn't mean you give him what he wants just because either.

Somebody PLEASE come get GarPax the hell away from my Bulls.

They just pulled the qualifying offer from Joffrey Lauvergne making him an unrestricted free agent.

Now I couldn't give two ****s about Lauvergne's trash ***, but why the ****ing hell would you SELL our damn second round pick to the Warriors allowing them to get Jordan Bell, when we could have kept the damn thing and drafted him ourselves for our rebuild? Part of their explanation for not keeping the pick and taking him was because they were cool with our depth (with ****ing Lauvergne included in that statement) and that they didn't see him making the roster. Are you ****ing kidding me?? Jesus take the wheel...

Hmm looked up the stats and KCP only shot .399 and .350. I thought at one point he was shooting close to 40% from 3 but his shooting must have faded.
he's infuriatingly streaky, and usually for the negative, then he'll have a 5 for 7 night and everyone thinks he's turning the corner... next two games he'll go 2 for 18 and everyone says "but his defense!", and at the end of the year he gets a career high 35% (39.9% overall)

Yep this is what am I hearing 3/4 years with a contract starting around 20-23M then climbing up from there. And he's not going to get a max from anyone. He's 29 with a hip issue and only one or possibly 2 max contract worthy years under his belt. Those in his 28 and 29 year old seasons. And I don't think his game is going to fare well with age.

The last I heard on the hip issue was he wasn't going to require hip surgery. Brad said that earlier this week (July 3).

Toronto has traded DeMarre Carroll, a future first-round and second-round pick to Brooklyn for Justin Hamilton, league sources tell ESPN.

As long as those picks are within the next 2 years with no stupid protections, I'm cool with it since the Boston trade will be paid off after this upcoming season.

Bonus in this: we finally got ourselves a a Lebron Stopper! Yayyyyyy!
