Bruh I know about new NBA money and Ibaka bum *** still ain't worth 20 million. That's the same logic Phil tried using on Joakim Noah. Ryan Anderson is at 18 something right now and doesn't cross 20 mil until the last two years of his deal where he finishes with about 21. A starting salary of 20 million dollars for Ibaka is the basketball economic equivalent of taking a pile of cash, dumping it in the middle of the floor, dropping a deuce on it and then setting it on fire. Y'all about to get fleeced by a dude that can't shoot threes but thinks he's a three point shooter, has regressed in horrid fashion on what was supposed to be his biggest strength and STILL doesn't get you a single inch closer to successfully holding Bron's jock strap. I'd start him at 15-17 mil and if he balks let him kick rocks.

Crazy to think that he's only 31 and still going strong.
Not sure he can do extended minutes. When Curry was injured during the playoffs last year, he started a couple of playoffs games. Did okay in one but not in the next few.

Then he had a real good game in game 2 of the Finals.

He just had his first child during the season so he might be motivated to get a big payday, which he's never had because of his injuries.

As for Iggy, he didn't play a couple of nights ago and he's not been as effective on defense this year. I guess we'll see if he can be effective against Kawhi or Lebron, if that matchup happens in the finals.

He is 33 and supposedly has interests in tech venture capital so he may again take a manageable salary. But KD would have to take a couple of million less than he could get.

Bobby Marks of The Vertical was on a recent podcast and spoke about the Nets-Celtics trade, which he was apart of. This particular part rings true right now for teams looking to make that quick leap:

“We thought at the time that that Miami team with LeBron and where he was at (that) stage was vulnerable,” Marks said. “I’ve said it all along (to) teams this past trade deadline: You have to be careful with him, with LeBron. He’s got three, four – how many more good years? When you think he’s maybe missed a step, he’s as good as you’ve seen in these playoffs here.”

“The bench (that was) there, it’s almost like the situation in Golden State (where) you’ve got a top-heavy roster,” Marks said. “At the time, it was (Chris) Bosh, (Dwyane) Wade, Ray Allen was there, LeBron there, and you figure here’s your chance to maybe overtake them, to push them. You put a veteran group (together) like we did in Brooklyn, and if you make a mistake like that – I think that’s where Boston kind of pulled in the reins a little bit at the trade deadline. It will cost you for the long haul here (if you make a mistake). I think that’s where teams really have to be careful.”

I think Boston is in the right spot though. The guys here don't believe it, but I think trading for Jimmy or PG is worth it for them. Jimmy in particular because he's under contract for another 2 years. That's enough time to sign another role player to help.

Trading for George would be a disaster. You wouldn't accomplish anything more than you are now. You lose a top pick. He goes to Hollywood.

Jimmy is more realistic but I think I'd rather just try for Hayward and keep the pick.

Bill Simmons listed some players he'd trade that #1 pick for, like Anthony Davis.

But he also said he'd trade for Klay Thompson.

Warriors won't trade any of the 4 until they see how this season finishes. But they don't need PGs, they need 2-way wings.

Of course, Boston themselves might prefer to draft a 2-way wing, since they have such a logjam at both guard spots.

The only legit reason would be if you were just a bigger fan of football than anything else you grew up watching and that was your passion.

I actually grew loving both just the same and grew up playing both in school. Played for 7 years as a WR and the worst injury I suffered was fractured ankle and that happened because I got rolled up on.

I just don't let the whole Concussion/Health talk get to me or even dissuade me.

                              NY Knicks News

Kristaps Porzingis skipped out on his exit interview with the Knicks, sending a message that he was not happy with the direction/management of the organization.

That Phil Jackson and GM Steve Mills didn’t show up at Porzingis’ house, or fly to Latvia, to have a face-to-face with the young player, express their frustration and hear his concerns, and try to bridge the gap with the face and future of the franchise was a mistake.

Finally, Jackson has sat down with Janis Porzingis — Kristaps brother and agent, himself a former pro basketball player in Europe — but that didn’t solve things, reports Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

However, the lengthy sit-down in New York accomplished very little to bridge the chasm as Jackson remained steadfast in his ways and direction, according to a team source…

Both Jackson and Janis spoke around these issues to the media prior to their meeting, with the latter telling ESPN that Kristaps wants to remain in New York but also desires “for the Knicks to create an environment where he can develop and grow as a player and win.”

Apparently Porzingis can’t do much about the future, either, with Jackson unrelenting in his philosophies while aiming to increase his influence over the coaching staff. According to sources, one of Jackson’s objectives is to tailor the workouts and training sessions around learning the triangle offense.

Jackson sees the triangle as the Knicks culture, and his personal legacy to the franchise. When he walks away in a couple of years (he has two left on his contract), he wants this style of play to be something ingrained in the Knicks and at the core of who they are. The fact he has a coach who doesn’t know how to teach the triangle and that players aren’t thrilled about it seems lost on him.

This summer Jackson needs to get more talent on the roster, and not just with stop-gap players like Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah — there needs to be a long-term plan to build around Porzingis. The style of play is not the culture — look at how many times have the Spurs switched up their style of play under Gregg Popovich to fit the talent on the roster — and trading Carmelo Anthony is not some cure-all.

That Jackson and Porzingis are not on the same page is a concern, this is the kind of thing that has held the Knicks back for years. Porzingis isn’t going anywhere, he’s still under his rookie deal and next summer the Knicks can and should offer him a max extension. He will outlast Jackson, and Porzingis knows the kind of influence and impact elite players can have on a franchise. Porzingis get it, he and his agent/brother know what a winning franchise looks and feels like, and they know they are not in it.

In some communities, football is seen as the only way out.

So near Pittsburgh, tyke football is seen as both a way to success and as a way to keep kids out of trouble.

It helps that a lot of NFL stars like Revis have come out of the same area.

Seems like some communities gravitate more towards one sport than the other, with some pro athletes held up as models for what kids should aspire to.

Of course the other thing is, by the time they're sophomores in high school, the taller ones may gravitate towards hoops, especially if they display talent.
