Celtics will pay Isaiah the max amount the market dictates on a 3-year deal. Something similar to what Kyle Lowry took in the $100M range would be my guess.

The guy is a freaking folk hero in Boston. The two sides will come to terms on a deal that works for everyone involved.

I don't see it happening and I hope for Griffin's sake he stays far away from the Garden.

And this is exactly why he ran away as fast as he could. lol ****ing Dolan. NBA take the team away. Like ban him from the team.

3 with a team or player option for a 4th year is what I'm expecting.

It's just that maxing him is ensuring you're not winning **** for a few years. Should've traded for Boogie at the deadline, should've drafted Fultz, a guy who isn't 5'9. I love IT. He's a dog. But he's 5'9, his best fit on a title team is as a spark plug 6th man. His height limits him so much defensively.

He was the best player on the 1 seed just this past year. What are you talking about?

How you gonna sit here and ask me this question when YOU just said in the post that I quoted "look at the money getting thrown around right now." Is that not exactly you looking at guys like Hardaway getting paid that don't deserve the money they're getting and then you gonna turn around wag the finger at me for basically putting a name to one of the people getting paid? C'mon man.

Anyway getting paid a 3 year deal with max money isn't the same thing as a max contract which I'm certain IT is talking about.

You're content with just losing to Cleveland every year? Cause that's what's going to happen if you max IT. 1 seed is nice, but ultimately doesn't mean ****.

This has been an interesting off-season of hot takes for Boston.

I was with him, IT was at best a 6th man on a championship, before the playoffs. But now I think he is a high end 3rd guy, or 2nd guy on a championship team. I don't think he is the type of player that is the number 1 guy that will lead you to a championship, but he can definitely be that second or 3rd option.

I mean, Isaiah as a 6th man would be pretty insane haha.

I think that's likely his best chance at winning a title at some point in his life as well, but I think it's possible you could win with him as your #2 or 3 option if you have a good rim protector/good fit at SG next to him. Boston doesn't have the rim protector though and I'm not sure they have the SG either unless they're banking on playing Hayward there.

I do agree with the overall take that locking in all their cap space around IT, Hayward, and Horford is locking themselves in for being basically the early 2000's Kings though; really good team, but not quite good enough to win a title.

I know Isaiah basically has a cult following in Boston after this past season, but I think the best plan for this offseason would have been to draft Fultz, possibly keep Bradley, and trade Isaiah (of course this depends on what teams are willing to give up for him).

The list of #1 guys that have led their team to a championship the past 5 years:

                          Kevin Durant
                          LeBron James
                          Steph Curry
                          Kawhi Leonard
                          LeBron James

People way too casually throw out that "he can't be a #1 option on a title team" Like... nobody can. That's an impossible bar.

Looks like IT has set another record as the first player in NBA History to finish in the Top 5 in MVP voting and Earn Second Team All-NBA honors, yet is only good enough to be a 6th-man. Back to the bench, Shorty!

Cleveland isn't even guaranteed to keep Lebron beyond this year yet you know Boston is going to be losing to them every year.

Until we get another article in the Players Tribune saying "Cleveland, I'm not leaving you again", they're not guaranteed a damn thing beyond next season and if they're bringing back the same squad or adding some more washed up scrubs, he'll just get the same result he got this year.
