    Re: 2017 Offseason Thread

So Chauncey Billups says he knew about the Kyrie trade request while he was interviewing for the Cavs job. Says that he knows more about the situation that the rest of the public still doesn't know. Also mentioned that he didn't understand Kyrie's request and if he were a team trading for him, this would be a huge red flag. Alarming is the exact word used. Says if it's all about winning, he has everything he wants already.

"That would be alarming to me if I was a team looking to get him because if it’s all about winning - I mean, man, you got a chance to win every single year," Billups said. "And not only that, you’re getting everything you want. You’re getting the shots you want. You’re playing for a great coach who’s letting you go to work. The game’s on the line, they coming to you. You playing on (national) TV every week.

"To me, I don’t get it."

I actually agree with you about making some teammates worse, just not shooters. He minimizes the other top level talents around him because he is so ball dominant, but he makes shooters much better. The main reason for this, and I know most people don't believe this, but LeBron is a very selfish teammate. He pounds the air out of the ball, taking other stars who are used to having the ball, out of rhythm and only passing the ball on kick outs for assist passes. He doesn't care about making the pass that leads to the assist pass, basically anti Warrior ball. Because he averages a lot of assists people think he's a team oriented player.

          Pack news:

Blazers trade Allen Crabbe to the Nets for Andrew Nicholson. Blazers will waive and stretch Nicholson's contract per Woj

Edit: Crabbe waiving his trade kicker.

Are we getting a pick back or is it a straight swap?

Straight swap it looks like. Crabbe is waiving his trade kicker though.

Good for Crabbe. He'll get an opportunity to start, although I believe he'll be battling with Archie Goodwin and Kilpatrick for that spot, and more shots on a young team that needs offense.

Sean Marks has been kicking *** with what little assets he started with.

Who becomes the 6th man, Lin or Crabbe?

Curious to see if this trade is at all related to the rumored three-team Melo deal. Portland made this trade solely to waive Nicholson for a fraction of the price.

                        Even better!

Supposedly we're only paying him $12 Mil per year, so we still have cap space left over.

My man has turned Brook Lopez, Justin Hamilton, Andrew Nicholson into Fake D'Angelo, Crabbe, Mozgod, a 1st and 2nd Rd pick in next year's Draft, Demarre Carroll and Jarrett Allen(1st rd pick this year).

Not a bad offseason for us. We do have a lot of swing men and not many bigs though, lol.

I don't see them making the playoffs, but their pick is looking more and more like middle to high lottery. Damn you Sean Marks for displaying some competence.

Meh, this still screams bottom 5 team IMO; not sure who I'd say is more likely than them to be the worst in the NBA. Maybe Atlanta and Phoenix if they don't acquire Kyrie?

Yeah, Lin and Russell will be starting, as they should be.

Lin's issue last year was health but when he stopped having those hamstring issues, we went 11-12 over the last month and a half of the season with him out there. Not to mention, he and Kenny have a great relationship with each other that goes back to their Knicks Days so he'll be starting regardless. Those 2 are pretty much set as far as starting goes.

I've already accepted the picks as being sunk costs. Right now, we have Toronto's 1st and 2nd and also have Indiana's 2nd rd pick that comes to us if they miss the playoffs next year.

We're still a long way from where we need to be at since that was a deep hole Billy King dug us into but I think now we're starting to get to the point where we can pull ourselves out of that hole and actually start building that foundation for our team, if that makes sense. It's why I don't get caught up in what our record or how many wins we have, because with our situation, we're going to stink(by that metric)regardless, lol.

My personal goal is for us to be back in the playoffs by 2019-2020 and to be able to go after those Tier 1 FAs by then. Or at the very least be attractive enough for them to consider us. But right now, my main concern until we get full control of our draft picks is player development. Because that'll play a big part in whether or not we're attractive enough to those Tier 1 FAs.

That's perfectly fine with me, because I know we're not building for now or to compete for playoffs anytime soon.

Difference now is that we have a plan/vision and competence, which is what we haven't had in awhile, lol.
