Why would the Celtics want him?

He's a good, young player? I think pretty much every team in the NBA should be interested in him.

        Unless you're the Warriors.

They're probably like "Nah, we're good now. But come back in 2 years and we might have something for you"

I would rather pass on trading for Kyrie (I know, typical Celtics fan). I don't believe the return would be worth the ask. The gap between Isaiah and him is a coin flip (numbers make a case for Isaiah being the superior player). And on top of that a potential high lottery pick and Jaylen Brown would have to be included.

          No thanks.

He would be an improvement for some teams - sure. The Celtics have "the most to give," but considering they have IT at the head of a large corral of young guards I don't see the benefit being enough for them.

I don't think there's any chance that Boston is willing to offer what it would likely take just due to how unfair I'm sure Cleveland would demand it be to deal with Boston. I'm guessing it would cost Boston Isaiah, Jaylen or Tatum, and the Brooklyn pick to get Cleveland to consider it.

But I'm sure Ainge would rather have Kyrie long-term than Isaiah by a wide margin if he had the option.

Especially not when they've gone this far down the rabbit hole of holding all these assets for a potential Anthony Davis trade. You've passed on this much for a chance that may never come, no point in stopping now.

Which isn't a bad thing seeing as the players Ainge has passed on were never the type to push you passed Cleveland or Golden State in the immediate future. Was able to an all-star in Hayward while keeping all your assets in the process. Remain in position to be in on any big fish on the trade market. I'd say the plan is working better than many are unwilling to give the proper credit.

I think Kyrie ends up in Phoenix because they will likely offer the best deal for Cleveland. I seriously pray Josh Jackson is not included in a trade. I've seen ideas floated around like Bledsoe, Chriss, Chandler, and a pick for Kyrie and Shumpert. I think Phoenix maintains enough of a strong young core and obviously gets Kyrie while the Cavs get a fine mix of young and veteran players which satisfies everything they want.

Also wondering why Dallas hasn't potentially jumped in. Could throw out a couple interesting pieces. Dennis Smith, Harrison Barnes, Nerlens Noel...obviously not all of them at once but they might intrigue Cleveland

A portion of our fan base will love the move, I swear they've been pining for this guy for 6-7 years. Guess he's our opening night PG.
