Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Spoiler
But otherwise I guess it just depends on what your definition of a good off-season would be. They’ve been to 3 straight finals, aside from bringing in a 4th all-star level guy there is only so many ways to see improvement. Their starting 5 was a top 5 team in the league at +/-, points, threes, assists, rebounds, forcing turnovers, steals..
Nobody has ever questioned their Offense so why you felt the need to mention those Offensive Statistics or mention their past accomplishments, I have no idea.
I think if Thomas’s health was THAT big of a concern going forward then the trade wouldn’t have happened. He’s the only if there is, everyone else is at worst still an upgrade.
We've seen dudes with Potato Chip Knees and a Busted Back get moved for pieces so Thomas getting moved shouldn't be surprised at all.
Rose definitely isn’t what he used to be, but last year he showed he was capable of being a starting caliber PG in the league. Even if he was the worst starter in the league, which he was probably close.
Rose could come in and be worse than he’s ever been and he’s still an upgrade over what they had. Hell Calderon might even be an upgrade considering he can at least hit the open shots. Deron couldn’t even do that by the end of the season.
Jeff Green can come in and match-up with someone like Green,

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
They let the team’s most storied player in franchise history walk this offseason, move coaches in and out seemingly more than any team in the league, let go of my favorite player on the team in Vince. Now Marc is open to leaving and they are likely headed towards a rebuild soon. They had a ****ty off-season. Unless Reke wants to get back to that 20/5/5 type of production.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I never acted like he was some big difference maker. I’m just saying it’s not as simple as just saying he sucks, or he washed, if he actually gives the team something they need. Which I think he can.
Nobody is saying he’s the savings grace, or his going to come in and have a career year, or anything even remotely close to those type of statements.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Of course not. You just said he "can come in and match up with someone like Green". Then again, there's quite a few players in the league that fit that description. That's like when Raptors Fans here were touting the signing of Demarre Carroll, even going as far as to call him a "Lebron Stopper" or "another body to slow down Lebron" and we seen how that turned out.
When is the last time Jeff Green gave a team "something they need"? Human Hypothetical is the perfect nickname for him based on his career.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Just so I'm clear here, I'm the one looking at things on paper too much despite the fact I'm judging by what we've actually seen all of them do in recent years, but you're saying what all these guys are GOING to do for the Cavs not based off anything we've seen of them being capable of doing in the last five years but based on what they should be able to do in theory if....you know....you just looked at their additions to the roster on paper?

2017 Offseason Thread
But not quite a few on the Cavs roster which is the point of them adding a player like that being a good fit for them.
I’m not acting like he’s going to be some starter who finally comes in and puts up 15 and 7, reaching that potential everyone always thought he had. We talking about a 8th, 9th man on the bench here.. some of you are reacting as if I’m saying these dudes are coming to Cleveland to be 30+ minute guys...

Judging by what you’ve seen them do on crappy teams with roles that are too big for them while ignoring what they could add to a team like Cleveland’s bench.
If Jeff Green and Jae Crowder don’t end up as better options than James Jones then y’all are more than welcome to come back and find these posts mid-season and remind me of how horrible they are.

Who the hell cares about what the Cavs are doing mid-season? You really think Jeff Green and Jae Crowder are going to be the reason they beat the Warriors?Comment

What does any of this matter when the Spurs are going to win it all anyway?
