2017 Offseason Thread
If they even bring up Tatum or Brown Danny laughs, hangs up and tells them it's over guessing.

I guess GM LeBron didn't like the original trade?

Sounds like Boston were unwilling to add a sweetener to deal as of last night.Last edited by areobee401; 08-27-2017, 06:18 AM.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Boston added enough. Everyone knew the package was based on Thomas being 29, potential free agent, with a historically serious hip injury.
Once again an NBA team either proves it knows less than avid followers or is manipulating the market.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Clearly they didn't because the Cavs doctors found it to be worse than what Boston said it was. The BKN pick wasn't about the Cavs taking on IT hurt, it was about Bostons refusal to include Tatum. Don't blame the Cavs, or any other team if they veto a deal because of an injury, especially if the severity of it was misrepresented.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Wait.....this injured player we traded for is actually injured? Give us more!
No thanks. I'm sure there are other lottery picks out there they can get for kyrie and I'm sure every other team will be itching to deal with the cavs after this. Celtics can just buy kyrie in 2 years if they are still interested and hold on to that pick.Comment

It is hard for me to believe that Cleveland didn't have some idea of how bad Thomas's hip was. Reports throughout the off-season stated that he could need surgery. The decision to forgo surgery was more to avoid the procedure, not because surgery was unnecessary. There was also nothing reported about him engaging in any type of work out or physical activity. I think the belief was "he would hopefully be ready by training camp." Maybe Cleveland didn't know the full extent of the injury but it's not like there weren't warning signs.Comment

If IT ends up missing significant time, think the Cavs would rather move on if they can't get a player to help win now. Cavs shouldn't have any issues finding a deal, especially after what Boston proposed.Comment

Let's not act like either side has been completely honest throughout all of this.

What I care about is everyone knowing Boston gave Cleveland a package with just a bit more than anyone expected. I find it hard to believe Cleveland didn't know that.

Two days ago "I can't believe the celtics gave a team with no leverage that haul"
Today "IT's hip is hurt. Cavs should want more"
Why do they think they got that haul? Hopefully Danny is in take it or leave it mode. No reason to give in with legit pieces and if a 2nd rounder or Celtics first rounder is going to magically make CLE not care about that hip then it's kind of obvious what's going on here.Comment
