Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Sounds like George all but confirms he'll be going to Lakers in 2018.
For those fans who were tired of seeing Warriors-Cavs, don't worry, you'll get to see Celtics-Lakers XIII and more in a few years. Be careful what you wish for. We could be going back to the NBA in the 60s/80s.Comment

Like how we were supposed to get Lakers-Cavs all those years, right?
Until the Lakers get pass Golden State, nobody should be locking them into anything even if it's a few years out.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 06-18-2017, 04:52 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Lakers could feel pressured to trade for George. I know thr first line of thought is, well George is going to LA so no point in giving Indy anything for him now, but there is risk in doing that. Say Cleveland trades for him. George experiences a full season playing next to LeBron and his first NBA Finals. What's to say he goes to LA after.
The protections don't seem too bad to me unless I'm missing something.
If the lakers get 2-5 next year it's the celts pick right? Which would most likely give them two great picks.
If the pick is 1 (doubt this happens) or above 5 sixers keep it. If it's above 5 then the celts get the unprotected kings pick the next year. Kings are trash so either way it seems like the other pick in this trade will be decent. Unless I'm missing something like I said.
On the crowded backcourt stuff. I think those reports of a crowded backcourt as the reason the Celtics passed are a load of bull.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Lakers are still going to have to trade for that dude if they want him. There's always at least ONE team willing to take a chance on a rental. That's part of the reason Denver got the haul they got for Carmelo was it not? Because a team like the Nets were right there looking to acquire him with the hope that they could keep him there once acquired? If they want him, they may have to go get him to make sure a desperate Pacers squad doesn't deal him to the first decent offer they get just to ensure he doesn't go somewhere else, like it and decide to stay there.Comment

The only reason they got that package from the Knicks was because Dolan got involved in that even though Donnie Walsh's preference was to stand pat and wait til the offseason so he could preserve his depth(especially since they still had the space to offer him a max deal that offseason anyway).
As an aside, I don't buy the "Trade him to Cleveland" noise because what do the Cavs have to offer outside of Love?
Edit: Answers my question
In the past 24 hours, Pritchard has become more aggressive in pursuing trades for George, league sources told The Vertical. Pritchard has yet to show an inclination to engage the Lakers, but has discussed deals with several teams – including Cleveland – in which the expectation of teams would be that George is a “one-year rental.” The Cavaliers are devoid of the kind of young players and future picks that Indiana might want in return for George, and George has never mentioned the Cavaliers as an intriguing destination.
It is unclear how robust offers to Indiana will ultimately be, given that teams believe he will sign with the Lakers next summer. So far, Indiana is asking for a substantial package of talent and draft picks for George, league sources said. Discussions could extend until Thursday’s NBA draft – or beyond.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 06-18-2017, 05:57 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment
