Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Part of it has that KP is being so grossly misused right now. He's chasing undersized 4's around the perimeter which is limiting both his help defense and rebounding numbers. He was also dealing with a team so bad at defensive rotations, everything was a mess on that end of the floor.
On the other end he's dealing with two black holes in Rose and Melo and was asked to create his own shot from 15-18' out far too often last year. Isoing a skinny 7'3 kid against a 6'9 defender from that far out is idiotic but hey, triangle4lyfe.
Just get this kid a point guard this year and pick-and-roll/pop other teams to death. We should be able to get KP so many easy looks instead he's often asked to create his own offense and forces up ugly stuff."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I'm not a fan of Russell, but this is a homerun deal for the Nets. This is the only way they could acquire a potential star player since they don't control their draft picks and no free agents are going to come there."In the morning he would read the Bible with another coach. Then, in the afternoon, he would go out and cheat kids who had probably saved up money from mowing lawns to buy those raffle tickets. That's Jim Tressel."Comment

Nets are in good shape under Sean Marks. Good thing the Nets picks dry up before his vision starts to manifest.Comment

2017 Offseason Thread
Where does Russell fit with LA when they have Ball, Ingram and soon to be PG? PG isn't playing the four so that's out of the question. Not really a terrible trade if you look at it that way. Unless you're one that believes Russell is a future star and could be better than Ball or whoever, but I have my doubts. Either way it's either Russell or trading the 2 pick.

This article just reminds me of how fickle the offseason can be [emoji38]
The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off another disappointing season missing the playoffs for the 4th straight year, extending the longest playoff drought...

Well excuse me but the lakers just traded their best player in a salary dump. I just don't get it especially if the big picture is getting 33 or 34 years old Lebron with more minutes than anyone in the NBA to leave the eastern conference. Yeah, excuse me if I'am not convinced.
In my mind there isn't a legitimate reason that this move had to happen now.Comment

So the Lakers have cap space now. For who? A myth?
Remember when the Warriors got word that Durant would come and THEN they traded guys away to make room for him? The Warriors didn't just start dumping bodies two years ago for Durant.
I think the Lakers are being too optimistic. That being said, if LeBron actually does come to LA, it works out and good for them. Doesn't mean they couldn't just as easily dump Mozgov in a Russell deal a year later. If Russell plays better, might even get more in return.
Saying all that, I don't think it's a bad deal for them. I just think they could have waited. And I don't like that it's a sign that the Lakers still believe that being LA is enough to attract free agents."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
