Re: 2017 Western Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread

Last time 2 teams went into the conference finals undefeated was Pistons & Lakers in 1989. Lakers went all the way to the finals undefeated(Pistons lost just 2) but Pistons swept Lakers in the finals.

I asked this already about Cavs sweeping the East and people said no, but imagine if we actually do get Cavs-Warriors in the finals where both teams swept their conference.

Doc Rivers gave it to him as a gift when he did an interview with them.

Because we already know it's going to happen, even though it doesn't need to be changed.

That convo been started long ago.

Me and 3 co-workers were talking about just that 3 weeks ago.

I guess you're speaking of somewhere specific tho.

Nah they explained the beef with Ray and honestly I can't even blame them if it went down how they say it did.

Rondo was just bogus how he was during that whole convo. Dude STILL don't like Ray, that much is clear.

Oh I know why they're beefing. That was just another way of me saying they need to squash that petty stuff.

I got you: The Eastern Conference is making a great case for ditching East/West Playoffs

“I was initially hurt by the whole way everything went down…” Pierce said. “I thought we formed a brotherhood here in Boston. Just how we carried ourselves, not only on the court, but off the court, and I just figured if it was me leaving or KG leaving, then I would have been like, ‘Rondo, Perk, Baby, this is what I’ve been thinking about.’ That’s what I was hurt by when Ray didn’t just at least give us a heads-up about it.”

“I just feel like, it ain’t what Ray did, it’s how he did it,” Perkins added. “We did form a family. We all shed tears together, talked about some of the deepest things — I’m talking about outside of basketball that the world don’t know about. If you felt like you wanted to go that way and )sign with a team those Celtics saw as a rival), I just think he could have handled it a different way.”

“Everybody’s asking us, ‘Where’s Ray?’ People don’t understand that this is real life for us,” Garnett said about him not inviting Allen. “The situation with Ray is very sensitive. I think that when we all talked about doing this reunion tour, we were talking about guys who we consider loyal and part of this group. Just being honest, my two cents, when Ray decided to go to the Heat, I felt like he moved on.”
I didn't catch these comments. I still think everyone needs to make peace but I can't fault them for still being upset at him just like I can't fault Ray for not speaking to them either.

Still think they need to squash everything and I think that'll happen sooner rather than later.

I can't fault them for excluding Allen from any reunions. That group was obviously close so for Allen to leave the way he did without so much as a heads up opens him up to what has followed. KD was trashed for the way he left OKC, why should Allen leaving the way he did be treated any different?

I like to think in time everyone excluding Rondo will eventually squash this and open communication again. But for that to happen Allen is going to have to be the one to reach out and rightfully so.

I agree with Perk tho that it's not on them to squash it with Ray, especially since they all came out last night and essentially opened the door to squashing it by saying they'd be willing to bury things if Ray came to them. Ray is the one that did them dirty. Doesn't make sense to me that they need to call Ray or apologize to Ray when he was the one that initiated the problem with his actions. Then even after he made his decision and signed the contract he didn't ever call either of them? They still haven't spoken in years? Hopefully them putting it out there that they're ready to put it behind him inspires him to pick up the phone and they can get back on the same page.

Not Rondo though cause his hatred for Ray and vice versa seems to run deep.

Man it's crazy y'all are talking about this high school drama like it's a soap opera. Ray Allen is probably chilling on his couch with his feet up, eating popcorn and laughing at these dudes.

He needs to come to them? For what exactly? He made a (successful) business decision and they're all in their feelings long after any of them are lacing it up anymore (besides Rondo, but he's just crazy anyway).

Maybe it's because Peirce only played for the C's. Garnett spent his entire career in Minnesota before the trade at the end of his career. I wouldn't call Allen disloyal but he is the only one who bounced around the league a bit before getting to Boston. Looking for and taking another offer was just part of the business to him that the others probably can't even comprehend.

Throw him shade when the Heat play the Celtics, sure. But this whole reunion and he's gotta reach out crap... nah, ya'll need to grow up.

To me, It's just one side of the story....Ray hasn't really talked about it much....maybe he doesn't care to. ..and maybe it's something deeper we don't know about....because at face value those comments don't really add any insight.

4 of these guys are retired at this point, just expected them to kind of at least chop it if not bury the hatchet....seems like they are going out of their way....just all comes off as a Housewives reunion instead of a Celtics one.

at the end of the day though, they're all grown *** men though....if they aren't cool they aren't cool.
