That was definitely extra, but why wasn’t there still a jump ball?

Your boy Webber got confused by the ref explanation so we may never know...

what the heck just happened since when are you able when signal jump ball then are allowed to call a foul while reviewing something?

i guess the ref might've changed his call from that so that's just dumb.

So I think the baseline ref had a foul call while the other ref had a jump ball...

Just ran the play back. It's hard to tell, but it looked like Ken Mauer may have been whistling a personal foul from the baseline at the same time the other official was calling a jumpball along the sideline.

I'd guess we could all use some verification but I assume the review for a hostile act actually allowed Ken and the other official to also have more than enough time to discuss and decide whose call should stand (the jump ball or Mauer's foul on Stephenson).

Webber's confusion likely stems from the sideline official right in front of him making an emphatic jumpball motion while Mauer was bit more low key. Webber was also likely shielded from Mauer by the Stephenson and Green shenanigans.

Was it a common foul or a tech? does a tech negate a jump ball?

                No idea...

And Webber is just clueless in general.

Yeah, I saw the baseline ref give the foul call, too.

This Cavs team is such an eyesore. Nothing they do is pretty.

Steve Smith and Grant look younger than LeBron, honestly. Look like they can still go.

                              Official just came on ITNBA.

Ken Mauer made the foul call first, the other ref called the jump ball....foul call takes precedent when the two are called simultaneously...the discussion was over if any 'hostile act' happened, it was determined there didn't....pretty much it...

                                Never.

But in all honesty I don't really get the Webber hate. He's not a perfect commentator but I don't find him particularly objectionable. I actually enjoy that he's a true fan of the game & its culture and also seems relatively grounded.

Also, I respect that he was more than willing to admit his error immediately. Sounds like he got a bit excited in the heat of the moment. Kind of understandable.
