They could have started Rondo again, moved Jrue to the 2, and played Moore or Miller at the 3 depending on the matchup.

Why they grabbed Payton when Frank Jackson is finally recovered from injury and has a similiar game to Payton I have no idea why. Plus Jackson at least knows how to play positional defense instead of gambling 90% of the time for no reason.

Don't blame him. He could have never been the same (or even have played again) after that injury he had and he hadn't been making nearly as much then. This is about securing his future with a guaranteed contract and I don't have a problem with it.

That don't mean he still can't get hit with these jokes tho

Stephen A says there are a few execs who believe that Kawhi would sit out the season this year if the Spurs don't move him.. It's Stephen A, so take that for nothing basically, but I can't imagine Kawhi going that route.

If he did (which I don't believe for a minute) it'd be funny because per the CBA he wouldn't go into free agency since he didn't fulfill his contract.

Plus he can always demand a trade later and still got paid.

The Spurs as time goes on are losing the leverage they have right ? Philly I hope wouldn't give up Fultz, Saric + 3 first round picks now that Lebron isn't coming. They would be better just usining their cap space to sign guys on 1 year deals like JJ and Bradley. The lakers aren't desperate to get him right away now with Lebron in play.

I do think it will be harder for the Lakers to move Deng as the Hawks I doubt take him on for two 1st that will be In the 20's.

Was just about to ask about the Deng thing.

And yeah I would assume trading Kawhi to the Lakers now would be the most value they could get for him. There is no pressure to get him at the deadline or into the season when they can wait and get him on their own without losing pieces. LeBron is locked in for at least 3 years, no threat of him leaving if they didn’t land Kawhi. Philly isn’t giving up what the Spurs want knowing they aren’t getting LeBron with him. Everyone else is in the same position they were in already, knowing he won’t stay.

I'm pretty sure. I'd have to look at it again, but basically if a player decides he will not play he is not fulfilling his contractual obligations and is not eligible to become a free agent as he forfeits the right by breaching his contract.

I find the reaction to PG staying in OKC interesting on this forum. KD chooses to go to GSW and a lot of guys on here crucify him for it. PG decides to stay and not team up with LBJ for a potential "super team" and he gets crucified for it?

It's all over the internet too.

PG is greedy and dumb. Whereas Durant was a bitch that took the easy road.

I can understand the PG backlash, but I don't agree with it. It's just cause he didn't end up following through with what he said over a year ago about going home to LA, but athletes do that all the time so it's not a big deal. Lakers fans seem to be the only upset ones and I think it's because George kept saying he wanted to come to LA and then ended up not even giving them a meeting.

Sounds like to me he just developed a really strong friendship with Westbrook and wants to stay there. Nothing more, nothing less.

It was because Paul George ran his lips about the Lakers for 2 years.

                              It's not about lebron
He forced Indiana's hand and Larry Bird bounced through all that drama

Then he does an ESPN special

                              Paul George talks too much.

The pressure is now off the Lakers to find a 2nd star now that Lebron isn't going anywhere for 3 years. Philly would be crazy to give up all the key pieces and future draft picks and not know for sure he is going to sign. You can also find another trade to help you out this year that doesn't involve giving up Ingram / Kuz and whatever else.

If Anthony in the thunders relationship goes south which seems very possible would a trade with him and Deng make sense to anyone else ? The thunder could stretch Deng and pick up some draft picks while the Lakers get "a star" plus a contract off the books after this year. I would think if he waves his no trade clause it would be to a team like the Lakers.

If the Lakers offer two 1st with a young player like Hart my guess is that's a pretty fair trade for both sides unless the Nuggets are offering more.
