Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Rumor Lakers could have had boogie at similar price
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...marcus-cousins
Cousins signs with Warriors. NBA season is over.
Lakers could have signed Cousins. Nah, Cousins wouldn't play at 100%. Good move by Magic.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
For a player that wants out anyways , just missed an entire season with injury, and even when healthy literally only had ONE year that might justify them asking for a haul like this.. that’s a ridiculous request.
Not saying Spurs shouldn’t aim high, but nobody is giving them anything close to that lol. And the longer they keep that asking price at something unrealistic the less they are going to get if he is actually traded.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Just read a B/R article that said Warriors are going to try and convince Boogie to come off the bench and lead their 2nd unit. This move also prevents them from making any other quality upgrades and are reduced to get minimums.
The bench was their weak link last year and if this move backfires and a starter gets injured, they could be worse off.
Doubtful but I don't feel like the sky is falling anymore

A bench of Livingston, McCaw, Iguodala, and Cousins sounds terrible. Worse bench in the league.

Per Woj:
Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns are progressing toward finalizing a 5-year, $158M maximum contract extension as soon as the weekend, league sources tell ESPN. Suns presented the offer to Booker in Los Angeles today.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
I know nothing should surprise us anymore but I'd be amazed at the best (or 2nd best) center in the league accepting a bench role, especially when that center is Boogie...Comment

Excited about the Exum deal. His offense is still a work-in-progress, but he's only 22. Nice to see a team be patient with a young guy.
His defense is definitely his calling card at this point, and for his defense alone I think this contract is worth it. And if he explodes offensively, which can certainly happen with his athleticism/upside/coaching, this contract could be a steal in a year or two. Anybody who has watched him play more than 5 minutes knows this is a solid deal for Utah.
Besides, it's hard to not pay the kid who didn't look for his first plane out of SLC as soon as possible. Never took any meetings with anybody else as far as I know.
I'm cool with it.
You know I hope y’all do well in the West but I can’t help but look at this and think Utah is going the way of many treadmill teams before them. We’ll see what happens with Mitchell and Gobert’s developments but they’re getting dangerously close to having too many high-paid role players IMO. I hope I’m wrong but I can’t help but feel like I’ve seen this situation play out many times before
Edit: I should add it’s not nearly as bad as the Bucks for example but it seems like y’all are trending towards making the same mistakes we and so many other teams have

Besides, people said last year that Ingles was an overpay, yet he improved after re-signing. Utah's player development, IMO, is tops in the league.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

I take any articles regarding lineups in July with a grain of salt. Especially when it comes to the Warriors who are known for experimenting different lineups over the course of the season anyway.
Their bench was awful last year but they still coasted to another championship. That B/R was an article about nothing basically.
Ingles, Exum, Gobert, and Mitchell are all free agents in 2021, Rubio and Favors (non-guaranteed) potential free agents next year. Jazz have plenty of cap flexibilty and space to operate.
