"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
All of this is a fallout from the summer of 2016 and the cap spike with front offices handing out all these STUPID contracts and now not having the requisite cap space as well (I don't think I need to point at all the bad contracts in the league).
Basically, front offices are dumb and everyone knows this.Comment

Is it dumb to not sign a guy to a one year deal when he isn't even going to play half the year?
Who had the space to sign him at a decent number and the talent to let him rehab for half the season?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Yikes.
Welp. The cost of keeping Chris Paul. And undersized PG. With an injury history. Wrong side of 30. Also a known talent for alienating teammates with his abrasive personality. What was that deal again? 40 million a year? Word?
Not saying on the court wise Paul had anything to do with Capela potentially leaving. Lack of cap space and how much they are willing to invest has everything to do with it though.
Man. Ya'll might actually have to try and bring back Dwight at this pointComment

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Yeah as long as he doesn't sign a QO I'm good. Agent is calling around trying to get teams to offer the max but the market for Centers is low coupled with the cap space of most teams right now means we probably are gonna retain him for less years and less money (3 instead of 4 with maybe a player option now).Comment

With Green taking less money and bring Durant. You would think more players think like this. But agents are probably the one's pushing for this.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

At this point in CP3 career.. I thought he would take less money to improve the team around him. I thought he'd know better here by now.

The 76ers have about 14 million in cap space and could have let him develop slowly. The Pacers are another team with cap space that and a playoff team.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Sixers don't want Cousins.
Pacers definitely don't want Cousins. They just let Lance walk when they didn't have to. He was on a team deal making less than 3 million and told him to kick rocks.
You think they were about to pay Cousins?Comment
