I think it’s safe to say Clarkson and Hood are both much better than they showed in the playoffs this year, I’m anticipating seeing what they look like away from any sort of pressure. Sexton as well, I think he’s going to be a really good player going forward. Cavs could push for the playoffs this year, does JR Smith even have a role anymore? I’m sure he has no trade value but they need to move on from that, maybe even agree to a buyout or stretch him. I wouldn’t really want him around the newer guys, I don’t think he will demonstrate good habits for them.

I just want to see Cedi get some damn minutes man. Also, in hindsight, I think it’s a good thing for this team that Kyrie moved on as well. Gives them a bit of a clean slate and I don’t think that team was winning anything by reverting backwards to what they were doing with the Kyrie-show before LeBron came back. This allows them to get a new identity, which I feel is important for them at this point.

I think the best case scenario for Cleveland this year would be for Thompson to have a “breakout” type season (I highly doubt he’s capable of that but he seems to think he is), or G Hill have a good start, and someone take notice and swoop in and make a trade for those guys. Cavs get some pics or expiring contracts out of the deals.

I was just watching some Sexton highlights and thinking the same thing. Letting JR stay would be a big mistake IMO, they have to send him packing.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

        Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread

Cedi just put up a LeBron stat line in the summer league. Obviously a huge step below what he’ll be facing this season but he looks so far ahead of others in his age bracket that I think he’s got a really good season ahead of him.

Sexton I like a lot. I’m really excited by him and hope that himself, Hood and Cedi can be a really good core for us to build around. Thompson, playing major minutes, could be a comfortable double double guy like he was his first few years, but if you have aspirations of reaching the playoffs and getting far, he’s not that reliable without big scorers doing the job beside him.

I’ve heard rumors of a Love trade, and while I don’t want to see him go, it would allow us some wiggle room in terms of picking up free agents moving forward and would improve our chances of a high pick next year because without him scoring 25 a night, I don’t see us threatening anybody.

I think the next couple seasons are gonna be really pointless unless we can make something huge happen or somebody gets desperate and moves for a JR, or a Hill and takes on one of those bad contracts. I’m ok with that so long as the end game is a good, young team with a good style of basketball capable of competing deep into the spring. I’d like to see us focus on defense more than we have since LeBron’s first tenure, because we were a fantastic defensive team in the past, and even in the championship year we could lock teams down at times.

There’s a lot to be excited about but also a whole lot of risk involved so I think patience is key right now.

I guess P.J. Tucker will have to pull double duty (SF/PF) or Ryan Anderson is going to be re - inserted into the rotation.

I think the Cavs would love to get off JR but I dont think they should pay the price to get rid if him. Just wait out the year then term that contract. Same with Hill unless he gets much better next year.

BTW, Kevin Love is still in Cleveland. Everything the front office is saying, they want to keep a lot of these vets. I think its smart, but they cannot block Cedi, Nance, Sexton and Zizic.

Tristan Thompson is an albatross. Dude is still on the hook for 2 more ****ing years.

Rockets losing Mbah a Moute and Ariza is absolutely huge

Ariza was Mitchell's primary defender in the 2nd round all series...

$103 million dollars over the next two seasons tied up between Tristian, JR and Hill is just depressing and I'm not even a Cavs fan. LeBron did Cleveland dirty with that mess lol

Aaron Gordon was interviewed at halftime of the suns/magic game and oh my..that was impressive. He was more excited to be back in orlando and for the guys on the team than blake and DJ were when the clips traded for cp3.

He said he was too caught up with legends and trying to make his name when he came into the league but now he understands its about winning and not yourself. Seems hes a no go for the dunk contest from what he said also.

Just a real dangerous cocktail of; overzealousness after the championship thinking we had the formula to beat Golden a State repeatedly (of course not banking on Durant), pressure from LeBron to tie everybody off that team down to a deal and panic from the front office that not doing so would see him leave because he was a free agent that summer.

This isn’t a great free agent location either. I think probably our best free agent signing not named LeBron was Wade, way past his prime and only because we had LeBron. After that it’s like Shaun Livingston, before he became turnaround gawd.
