Apparently (according to Windhorst) Raptors have made a "compelling offer" for Kawhi.

And Zach Lowe suggests that it'd take DeRozan + Siakam + 1st pick to get Kawhi.

Man, i'd rather keep DeRozan but if that's what it takes....I guess they'll have to do it.

kawhi "should" be a big upgrade over either lowry or derozan so its really just a matter of who SA wants.

KL and DD both fit next to kawhi and maybe are good enough to be the #2 on an ECF team..assuming we see superstar (ya OJ) kawhi and not roleplayer/injured/waiting for la kawhi

If I'm Raptors, I'd rather move Lowry.
If I'm Spurs, I'd rather trade for DeRozan.

I don't think Raptors should give in to Spurs, so hopefully if a deal ever happens, Spurs are the one settling.

Getting a guy for 1 year who you know is leaving at end of the season, and might be injured during the season, would you want to give up a future starter and 1st pick for him?

Spurs would probably want DeRozan, OG, 1st pick and maybe more.
I would want to deal Lowry, Powell and conditional 1st(condition resting on how many games Kawhi plays in the playoffs)

If you want the Spurs to settle for KL, forget about any talk of "conditional 1st"

I'd take DD and a unprotected 1st for Kawhi, but Lowry? I'd want two unprotected 1sts

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as placing conditions on draft picks in the NBA. Teams can place protections on draft picks but as far as I know placing conditions, like if a player plays x amount of games or if a player re-signs (which I believe I've seen someone say before), on them is not a thing.

Fine then, protect it from 1-25.

I don’t think you can protect a pick up to 25th. I think it’s lottery and that’s it.

If you can, nobody is ever taking a top 25 protected pick. Unless you’re a guaranteed conference finalist every year and it’s an incredibly stacked class.

Cris Carter, who has a direct link to Kawhi's camp, has said Kawhi to the Raptors is out of the question and he won't go there. So Idk why Toronto would throw away DeRozan for a 1 year rental. Stupid move, what do they think Drake is gonna convince him to stay or something?

Trading DeRozan for Kawhi is a bad move for Toronto. That doesn’t make them substantially better and he’s going to leave them. Trade away DeRozan for nothing to still lose in the 2nd round lol

                                - Lowry, OG, picks, Powell, some big haul like that would work. But I doubt San Antonio really wants Lowry that badly. Maybe if they also got Ibaka and could unload Pau and something to Toronto.

But I just don’t see a DeRozan for Kawhi swap making Toronto substantially better. Better defender for sure, but the offensive output is roughly the same. Kawhi isn’t bringing any additional play making or drawing double-teams or anything extra to make him a big upgrade of DeRozan on that end. He’s a better shooter, but I think you could even argue that DeRozan’s ability to attack and get to the line might even make him a better fit for Toronto than Kawhi.. at least in years past, tough to know their identity going forward with the coaching change.
