I was wondering when he would sign. Surprised a contender didn’t try to swoop him up. Would have been decent in OKC in my opinion.

all the 1 year deals so they can be UFA's next year when there is cap space but then the next 2-3 years there wont be any room left and we're going to repeat this cycle until the CBA is fixed

Don’t really think the CBA is a problem that needs fixing. Teams just don’t have cap space this year, but will next year. This isn’t anything new.

might be wrong but arent contract amounts determined by % of the cap? i never really bothered to get into that.



i guess technically the GM's should learn to evaluate and not dish out contracts to bums that have the kind of money starters/borderline allstars make.

If I were a player in today’s league I would sign nothing but big one year deals. Less guaranteed money but most likely more per year and all my freedom.

Yeah, but I mean situations like right now aren't going to be fixed by the CBA. There will still be years where only a few teams have available cap space and guys are going to misread the market and have to take lesser deals as a result. It's like when teams weren't spending money in the years leading up to the summer of 2010 because they wanted their books in order to be able to get in on those free agents. Teams would take on deals that put them over the cap the year before, but were expiring that following summer to free up space.

I’d take uninjured Kawhi over Durant any day, but maybe that’s just my unpopular opinion.

However, I don’t see any other player who could legitimately come close to those 3. Even so, that wasn’t really my point.

The point was there’s no way in hell he’s gonna be in San Antonio next season.

Until you tear an ACL or something and have to start taking one year prove it deals for the MLE lol

I've always been of the mindset of winning > everything else so I would get my 1 good contract in that can support my family and my kids family then play on the minimum for the team I wanted to be on so they have money to go get the pieces to win rings...acl tear risk and all.
