Would they even still do that after seeing Brown routine put up 20 a night against playoff competition? Considering he's cheaper, younger, and healthier?

I would have done that in a heartbeat a month ago, at this point I'm not as sure.

Teams could still play cautious with him though. I think it was Windbag on the radio here a couple days ago was asked about Kawhi and he mentioned that if a team traded for Kawhi they couldn't sign him to an extension for 6 months after trading for him. So you run the risk of him coming to your team, being unable to sign him until about January or so and in the time that he's there deciding he hates it there and walking on you next year. So you would preferably want him to sign the extension with the Spurs before the trade if you were going to part with the assets you'll have to part with to get him.

As long as Ainge can get a handshake from Kawhi on an extension, then I'd do that.

If that's a real offer Ainge better pull it off the table ASAP. I wouldn't do it. If LeBron goes East, the Celtics have a cakewalk to the Finals as is. Hell, even if LeBron sticks around the East the Celtics might have a pretty easy path to the Finals if they stay healthy.

If Kawhi is agreeing to a long-term deal, you trade Jaylen in a heartbeat IMO. Absent that, I don't think I would.

I wonder If Ainge is going to hurry and trade the Kings pick now before it drops in value like the Nets pick last year. The kings seem to want to win games next year with the rumors swirling around they will trade the 2nd pick for a established player or move down. The early reports for next years draft is its not as deep so if the pick lands outside top 5 (its top 1 protected) it likely loses value even if its just the kings aren't taking and everyone else is.

Would they pay both Irving and Kawhi big $ year with the other deals and soon to be big deal for tatum and others ?

I love Jaylen and certainly won't be upset if he stays. However, in my opinion with Jaylen the Celtics can make the Finals. With Kawhi the Celtics can have a real shot at winning the Finals. That's the difference to me.

LeBron or no LeBron, Kawhi and PG are two of my favorite players in the league. If they both went to the Lakers that would definitely be who I was pulling for in the West.

I should have clarified that my take was based on Kawhi not agreeing to an extension. If he's all aboard for re-upping, then yes I make the trade.

with the health concerns + the contract

You gotta be sure if you are trading Jaylen who is on a similar trajectory to what Kawhi was on. That's all I'm saying.

Difference is the C's could keep Brown and still use that pick to land another "star" or championship depth anyways.

I would have to been 100% sure he was staying in Boston. Otherwise, because Kyrie staying is in the air too right?, you could be trading a chance at one title for a chance at a Spurs-like decade of competing.
