I don't see Dwight as the type of player who would be okay with coming off of the bench. He strikes me as the type who would rather be "the man" (not that I really think he can be "the man" anymore) on a bad team than being a bench guy on a good team.

Anyway, give me Baynes back instead. He is tough and he can hit 3's on occasions. He's really put together.... if you know what I mean /TommyHeinsohn

I know it's been said Pop wouldn't trade Kawhi to the Lakers, but what are the odds he would do a 3 team trade with him still ending up in LA??

Like the Spurs get Fultz, Saric, Miami's unprotected first, maybe something else, Philly lands Randle, or Kuzman, or Ingram, Kawhi ends up with the Lakers. Seems like all sides would benefit.

          R.C on Kawhi:

The San Antonio Spurs are doing everything to keep star forward Kawhi Leonard, general manager R.C. Buford said Thursday night after the NBA Draft.
Rumors have swirled for nearly a week after Leonard reportedly asked to be traded from the Spurs.

Buford said he would not comment on whether Leonard or his advisors have made a formal trade request, but the goal was to keep Leonard with the Spurs.

The Spurs general manager also did not want to discuss*whether teams have approached the Spurs about a deal.
"Kawhi and his family mean a lot our organization and to the community,” Buford said. “While none of us would wish we are where we are, we’re going to do what we can to build the best relationship we can with him and we’ll explore all of our options, but the first one will be to do what we can to keep Kawhi as part of our group."
Buford said timing would not be a factor in a possible resolution with Leonard.

"He’s under contract for another year, our goal is to keep him as a part of our program for a long time,” Buford said.
Thursday night was the first time a Spurs official had spoken publicly about the Leonard situation since the season ended.
Sounds like they wont rush into any moves which is good thing....there is really no reason to.

Don't know how legitimate this is. To me it sounds fake. But some Minnesota radio guy with over 50000 followers said Wiggins, Teague for Lowry, CJ, Siakam.

I doubt it's true, they're not verified, or rumor picking up steam elsewhere, so who knows.

              Altman on LBJ

"We continue to have good dialogue with his management team," general manager Koby Altman said of James, per*Dave McMenamin*of ESPN. "LeBron has more than earned the right to approach his contracts the way he does."
The four-time MVP's contract has a player option for the 2018-19 campaign that allows him to become a free agent this offseason and perhaps play elsewhere after Cleveland lost in the NBA Finals to the*Golden State Warriors*for the second straight year.
Seems like (from a public perception) the dialogue is a lot better this go around....

Windhorst is saying that his informed opinion is that LeBron plans to opt out, which will basically eliminate Houston and San Antonio from the options and that he'll consider Philly, Cleveland, and LA; mainly the latter two.

Later on, he said that he would say 51% chance he goes to LA, 40% chance Cleveland, and 9% Philly and that based on what he's hearing, he'll likely sign with the Lakers before the 4th of July and that it doesn't really matter if PG13 or Kawhi are sent there or not; his family wants to be in LA and he wants to make them happy at this point. He later said that it's possible the Lakers are like 31-26 and he'll start to have some regrets, but that that's the way things appear to be headed right now.

Wasn't that from like three weeks ago? Or is he regularly walking around NYC with a bottle of tequila these days? lol

They have a decent shot of keeping him ... if Pop isn't there.

Yeah that was right after the finals ended.

On another note, Melo not opting out... no brainer, but OKC has a heck of a payroll with his 28 million on the books

If I'm the Lakers, the moment you know you're getting Lebron, if it's possible for it to happen without leaking, accept the Spurs trade for Kawhi. The moment Spurs know Lebron is going to LA, the Lakers 1st rounder value drops dramatically. Who cares about losing some prospects and picks if you got those 2, and ability to attract almost anyone you want at that point.

Maybe if he does another SI piece that’ll be possible.
