I fully expect Trae young to be the biggest hawks draft bust of all time all of his weakness are already showing up in summer league. He is to small to play defense and he can’t get a shot off when he drives to the lane.

As a hawks I automatically assume every draft pick is going to be a bust it’s just my go to move especially when you factor in everything comparing young to doncic

Yeah yeah, it's Summer League... but this isn't looking good for Young.

Not sure he has the athleticism to make up for his length when it comes to getting a shot off. Much, MUCH harder to score on NBA talent than some kids in the Big 12.

Yeah, historically guys struggle in Summer League and it's not a direct correlation to their NBA career, but this concerns me. This is reminding me of Trey Burke, he had a similar problem; not big enough to shoot overtop, not athletic enough to get his shot off.

I'm going to reserve my judgment, though. He's only what, 19? He's got the body of UPS driver, but he's a gifted passer, at least. He's going to have to change his game though if he wants to succeed IMO.

If he can’t drive the lane and his size limits him on defense I just don’t see how he is going to be worth the 3rd pick in the draft. Hopefully I’m dead wrong and he comes curry 2.0 and I look like a idiot. He is a good passer so he has that going for him and he will start shooting better.

On the bright side spellman looks like he could be solid. We need to trade dedman to a contender to open up some minutes for him

Watching trae young pull up from 30+ for no reason amd refusing/inability to use his left to finish is making me glad I'm not a hawks fan. Spellman looks really promising so far though.

He took awhile to get himself going, but he's turned himself into a decent starter/good backup like Shabazz Napier. He's not a minus on the court anymore.

I think people are still overreacting to Lonzo's shooting to be honest, at least to an extent. I don't think he'll ever be a good shooter off the dribble, which is the main reason I'm excited to see him play more of an off-ball role (hopefully he isn't traded), but I think he'll be fine as a spot-up shooter. Probably never a 40% shooter from outside but I think he can at least hit that 35-37% range if he transitions to more of an off-ball role.

Didn't know we had a summer league thread!

Was this Sacramento series just a couple games no championship?

The kid is looking a step or two above the competition, right now. I might sound crazy for what I'm about to say, but I really, really don't want Manu or Tony to return if the kid can take 75 - 90% of this production to NBA games and the Spurs could have the best young backcourt in the NBA in a year or two.

His game is as smooth as ice (sorry, George) and he makes it look effortless.

Another awful performance by Trae Young. I want him to succeed and do well in the NBA, but I hope he’s not the next Jimmer Fredette.
