Now he's hurt. But I was thinking if Capela played for another team that would use him like a big and get him more touches. He'd probably be a superstar.

A bunch of other comments too.

The shoot layups or 3's is the GM's philosophy. Moneyball has never won anything.
Yeah I think that was like 2 years ago when he said that when they where at like 30 attempts a game. I think nba but more so Rockets have went to far that way I dont think you can win that way. Even GS who are a great shooting team is only averaging about 33 a game so even GS is shooting around 10 less a game than Rockets.

Capela has improved a lot I wasn't impressed with him at all un till last seasons and I would say he is now at like all star talent but I would say he is far from a superstar but I also think superstar is a over used word has I would say there are only like maybe 8 guys in the nba I would call a superstar.

The warriors lead the league at the mid range even though people just associate them with 3s

The rockets are just one extreme or the other... Nothing in between

0 of James Harden's 115 points over the last 2 games have been assisted on.

            Surprising, not surprising.

Not to say it’s not crazy, but what elite scorer wouldn’t get those numbers if they were getting the volume equivalent of scoring 110 points..

Regardless just getting up that type of volume and getting to the line that much is impressive in itself. But it’s more so Kobe’s high usage bad team impressive than it is “greatest offensive player ever” impressive.

He's doing this on 63% TS%. Only two players in the NBA are averaging at least 20 points a game on that level of efficiency: Steph and Giannis. So I'm going to say the answer is almost nobody else could do it.

But the only reason his TS% is that high is because TS% factors in free throws and 3's.. But in his case it's the free throws that boost that number so much. I mean he might be the only player ever who's TS% is 20 points higher than his FG% lol.. Realistically if he were a more efficient scorer/shooter from the field he would probably be the all time leader in TS% because he's the only player in history to get more shots from the line than from the field. Also more than half his shot attempts are 3's, which will also raise his TS% to appear higher than his actual efficiency. It's 100% an analytical type of approach.

I mean he shoots 38% on all shots outside of 5 feet from the rim, I don't think that makes him all that incomparable. He gets enough attempts total to average over 71 points per night.

Isn't that kind of the point though? If every other superstar were capable of drawing fouls and scoring with the same efficiency and volume that Harden is, they'd be doing it. He's on a historic scoring streak and he's doing it at a level of efficiency that literally two other players in the entire league have been able to match this year.

My point is, I think there would be a trade off for some of those free throws because most top level scorers would be better from the field. His usage is second to only Westbrook's 32,11,10 season, only about a point behind. Other's with similar usage were Kobe averaging 35, Jordan averaging 37, Iverson averaging 32..

My general point is any elite scorer with that type of usage, getting up that type of shot volume would likely have similar results. Even Curry this year is only averaging 5 points less on less minutes and about 9-10 points lower on his usage. I don't know how to skew stats to reflect a per used plays metric, but I would guess he's actually scoring at a rate better than Harden is even with all his free throws.

Wiz-Knicks playing an early afternoon game in London today.

Play him tight and you still get burned:

Stephen Curry made nine 3-pointers last night – which, hey, happens. The Warriors’ elite offense sometimes spring him for open looks, and he’s the greatest shooter of all-time. He takes advantage.

But that wasn’t the case last night. Curry made some ridiculous deep shots despite the Pelicans contesting well.

Per NBA.com, Curry shot 1-for-1 on 3s against “very tight” defense and 4-for-7 on 3s against “tight” defense. The above video shows those stats sure don’t underestimate the degree of difficulty.

I especially enjoyed Steve Kerr’s in-game interview after Curry shot 7-for-8 on 3-pointers in the third quarter. Kerr on ESPN:

I told him right before all that, “Go make six crazy shots in a row.” So, he’s very coachable.

Nets scored 60 points in the 4th quarter and OT last night.

                            17 Mins of Basketball, BTW.

The commissioner really out here calling the London game a “European All Star game” with the 10-33 Knicks and the 18-26 Wizards.
