    Re: Help!!

I'd go with 2K3. I'm also a huge fan of IS Pro and think 2K3 is along the same lines. Forgot the whole arcade vs. simulation arguement people are throwing around, NBA 2K3 is simply a real game, where actions have benefits and consequences, just like ISS Pro. Live is simply too shallow for my taste. The freestyle control is basically the key to victory, and anyone woh tells you it isn't is kidding themselves. I like my games with variety, strategy, and precision. 2K3 has this. First time I played Live, I waggled the freestyle controller back and forth and scored 9 / 10 times this way. Doesn't make a very long lasting fun experience. I think it looks much better than it plays, but that's just me. People will acuse me of bashing Live, and well I am. I just don't like imbalanced games, and this is probably one of the worst offenders I've seen in a while. But and play NBA 2k3, rent Live, then come back and tell me you agree, bet you will, paraticularly because you bring up the ISS Pro issue.

          Re: Help!!

LOL..gamecuber and lighning are the two worst live-bashers I've ever seen.

Regarding the guy who asked for help makng a decision, it sounds like you are leaning towards a 2K game, so if I were you I would go with 2K2 not 2K3. You can get it for much cheaper and it is one of the best b-ball games ever. Don't waste the extra money on getting 2K3 unless totally up-to-date rosters are a big issue for you - otherwise there are just too many things that have gotten worse rather than better in this year's game.

I think you will save a few bucks and in the long run have a lot more fun playing 2K2 than you will 2K3.

          But that's just me.

            Re: Help!!

Also there is no reason to wait for NCAA 2K3 cuz (this is a guess, but an educated one) it will be using the exact same engine that NBA 2K3 is using, so it will be essentially the same game but with nameless, faceless players.

On that note, it sure is sad that there is no way for the NCAA to reach some kind of agreement that would allow companies to use Players names and likenesses in their college sports titles. I think NCAA FOOTBALL 2003 is one of the greatest sports titles ever with the depth of their dynasty mode and all, but having actual player names would be the crowning jewel.

gamecuber, do you have nba 2k3 for gamecube? If so can you give me your thoughts on the game. I have gamecube and am trying to gather opinions on the gamecube version of this game. Is it much better than last years version for the cube? how are the graphics compared to last year and how is the gameplay? Thanks

                Re: Help!!

Live basher...sure if that means that I don't like the game which I don't. I very much dislike games that require no skill or technique to be successful, especially when playing agasint another human. It ceases to be a game and becomes a waste of time. If I wanted to watch a game, I'd watch it on TV. At least I qualify why I don't like the game as opposed to others who simply say this game or that game sucks.

Now to address the other question about teh Gamecube, yeah I have it and I like it a lot. Graphically it's better than last year. It has the specular highlights just like the other 2 versions, and I like the GC controller best. One major difference seems to be that you have to hold the Z-trigger down to fake a pass, whereas the other 2 have their own fake pass butons. Oh and you can't save replays like the other 2 since the memory card is too small. Other than that they are the same great game.

thanks gamecuber, one more question if it's not to much trouble. is there career stat tracking? it wasn't in madden last year so I'm not sure if the gamecube memory card can handle it.

                    Re: Help!!

                    Thanks everyone!

The only videogame system I owned was the Atary 2600, that was when I was a child, I just never got interested in videogames, now I´m 23 years old and 4 months ago In england a friend showed me the winning eleven 6 (ISS Pro 2 in Europe) and I got hooked, when I got home, I bought a ps2 and got a mod chip (I hate doing that kind of thing but Konami made me, there is no ISS pro 2 planned for North america!!!) every night I play an hour and while I loved Socom:navy seals, I like more sports and as I said, Basketball is one of my faves (soccer and car racing are the other sprots I love).

The weird part is that here in Mexico, every game has the same price, So it´s the same in price if I want to buy, the 2k2, 2k3, Socom, crazy taxi, formula 1 2002, or Madden 2003. So I can´t save.

Also I dont care about the players, I played basketball in high school and the I stopped when I started college, So as sad as it sounds I dont have the slightest idea of who is a star now, I remember Pippen, Hill, Shaq, Malone, Rodman, Barkley and of course Jordan but I haven´t seen Iverson or any other of the players mentioned in the posts.

I also played the Ncaa football 2002, and I agree is by far one of the greatest titles I´ve seen, the dinasty is awesome!! ( I dont like American Football, though) that´s why I wanted to wait to the Ncaa 2k3, I dont like players, I like the game, basketball is fun to play in real life, I saw the game in the store, and I am really tempted to buy it That´s why I asked for help.

I was inclined to sega´s titles because I saw the pics in the back of the boxes and 2k3 looked more like a sim, than live. And thought that every year should have improvments, right?
So which is better 2k2 or 2k3?

                      Re: Help!!

Even at the same price I would get 2K2. It is an unreal b-ball game and if you don't really know or care about this year's rookies and some player movement for accurate rosters, I think you'll have a lot more fun with it than 2K3.
