Re: Will Amare be BETTER than Garnett?

He's a got a long way to go before he's on KG or Duncans level. Right now, he's playing great but he's not even on Jermaine Oneal's level yet and Jermaine is right on the brink of the KG, Tim Duncan level.

Like McCoy said, Amare has to get a back to the basket game, rebound like those guys, make his teammates better like those guys do, and be the defender that those guys are. Those guys can also step out and consistently hit those midrange jumpers. Right now, he's benefiting from playing with Steve Nash and that uptempo game. Half of his points are dunks. 28 of his 51 points were off dunks and being set up by his teammates. Unlike Oneal's 55 where they were all pretty much from his low post game. Those guys have also proven their worth in the playoffs, something which Amare hasnt had a chance to do yet.

So, just give him some time, he'll get there.

I kind of doubt he'll end up a better overall player. Offensively, he's much more aggressive than Garnett is. Garnett is really the best all-around PF in the NBA. Shooting, low post, rebounding, defense, passing, ect, he's phenomonal in at all of those. Defensively, Duncan is a better in the low block, and truthfully, offensively, Stoudamire is catching up. I don't think he'll be the whole package though.

      Time will tell, however.

          Can you really compare KG and Amare?IMO KG is not a 4...He's a 3, maybe even a well-oversized 2,while Amare is a legit 4...

Comparing Amare to KG is like comparing apples to oranges. Their games are entirely different. KG is a more versatile player who fills the stat sheets with everything while Amare is more of a scorer/ finisher. I'd say Amare's game reminds me of reign man's game when he was good.

I wouldn't compare Amare to Kemp. Amare's low post game is better than Kemp's was. Kemp had a nice jumper from the outside that Amare is nowhere near. I think you're thinking that because they both are big and have monster dunks, you compare. They're different.

Amare dunks. Period. That's what he does and that's what he will do.

Unless he develops a more complete game like Garnett or Duncan, he doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath.

Not really, he does more than dunk but anyone that has watched him play over last three years could tell you that. He is working on his game and developing fast.

Maybe if we didn't judge based on ESPN highlights we would gather enough information about his play to see he's developing a nice jumper or that he runs the floor well and has great anticipation on offense. He's also becoming one of the best finishers, i'm not just talking about dunks.

With that said I wouldn't really compare Amare to either Dunan or Garnett, they play different styles at a similar positions.

He's 22... he's more athletic than Tim and KG combined... he has great quickness and footwork... so yes, he has the potential to be better than both of them. I doubt he will be able to lead teams to championships like Tim, or develop the overall passing/rebounding/shooting game of KG... but the kid has mad game... I can't wait to see where he, Lebron, and Chris Bosh are in three years...
