At this point, I'd give the award to LBJ.

      Kid is unbelievable, period.

              1) Tim Duncan - I know people don't like his whole not big on numbers but just win approach, but when you look at the rest of the Spurs team you don't think superstars, or extreme depth or anything, but they just win.

              2) Lebron James - The Cavs are #2 in the East, obviously their's some factors contributing to that, but he's been playing great. I'm not a "fan" of his, but it's impossible to not like the guy.

              3) Steve Nash - Look at the Suns record, not some people overdo the credit to the change in the Suns, but that's for another day, Nash and Amare have both been MVP's for this team.

              4) Amare Stoudemire - Again, look at the Suns record, he's not ready for an MVP award, but he's been playing great this season, and feeding off actually having a PG. He needs to be a more aggresive rebounder and continue to improve his defense, and in 2 years he'll be right in the mix with LBJ, Wade, KG and Duncan.

              5) Dwyane Wade - He's played great for Miami, leading them in scoring, running the point, being efficient in his scoring, and his defense moved from just average last season to good this season, not great, but good.

              6) Shaquille O'neal - The Heat are #1 in the East, and you can't rake credit from Shaq Daddy who strikes fear in the heart of opposing big men not named Danny Fortson.

              7) Ray Allen - The Sonics are playing great, and though it's a big team effort on their part, Ray Allen has been not short of good, not his best season statistically, but he's been playing very good.

              8) Kevin Garnett - Yes, his team is losing, but KG is carrying this team, when he has one leg he's carrying them, when his hands fall off he's carrying them, when he's on the bench he's carrying them. He's doing everything and needs someone to step up.

              9) Dirk Nowitzki - The Mavs are deep, but without Dirk the Mavs would'nt be as good as they are, definately have to give props to Dirk's impact on the Mavs team.

              10) Kobe Bryant - This is a shaky one, the Lakers need Kobe, but they also need to change how they play. Kobe needs to do less, Odom needs to do more, and they need to make their offense less stagnant and one man depandant. Odom is very capable of running an offense but isn't given the oppurtunity. Anyways, Kobe has been great this season, he's been giving Iverson like performances in terms of shooting, except he's on pace to break the record for most turnovers in a season.

Iverson's having a great year and is playing great at the PG position, but an MVP candidate is someone that is a great player and his team wins. The Sixers aren't even at .500 right now so he's definately not in the running. If his team was say, 10 games over .500 then yes he would be a legitimate candidate.

He's not Kenyon Martin in the Jason Kidd situation, he can score, he's also improved a lot of his offense this season, so without Nash I would've expected 24 points on 52% shooting, Nash obviously get's him more easy shots, but he can score himself.

Why is Iverson even in the discussion, is that a joke? For AI to even be considered for MVP the Sixers have to have a top 3-4 record in the East and be well over .500. Having a 41-41 record doesn't get you MVP. Also Iverson's On/off numbers haven't been that great, and he's not been efficient or playing good at PG at all, a 7-4 assists to turnover ratio is terrible.

MVP is Tim Duncan. Lebron and Nash are also in the running.
Very ignorant post on your part. I do agree that Iverson can't possibly be in the running for MVP when his team is under .500. But I disagree with your opinions that Iverson isn't playing well and isn't very efficient. I think some people forget how difficult it is to play in the NBA, especially when your under 6 feet tall and are about 160 lbs. Iverson is probably having the best season of his career and is a top 5 PG in the NBA. On Iverson's supposed "offnights" he still has double-digit points and a good amount of assits. I also don't think you understand the premise of an assist. Assists only occur when your teammate "makes" a shot. Judging from the overall talent on the Sixers, Iverson having over 7.2 assits per game is pretty darn good. You also seem to be ignorant to the fact that Iverson has won an MVP award already and is fully capable of single-handedly taking his team to the Finals (which he did in 2001). You seem to act like Iverson isn't very good and is not an MVP caliber player.

That's been the best post in this thread. I guess we'll disagree that AI is an MVP candidate, but he definitely has that kind of capability.

I wouldn't rule out AI from the list, he is definitley capable. My vote does go to Nash though. Did anyone see the game last night when the pacers beat the suns? Nash was out at half because of a bruised thigh (nba 2k4 injury), and the suns didn't cope well without him. I watch every suns game and its so different when nash is not on the floor.

Its like when nash is on the floor we're thowing fastballs and when he's off where throwing changeups, but that works. but if you take away the fast ball the changeup will get hit all day long.

As far Amare, i think this year he's doing great but not on the list for mvp...usual candidates: Duncan, KG, Shaq and i'll agree that LeBron should take heavy consideration but my vote is nash.
