If I could land Beal and Bertans or something for Embiid I would definitely pull the trigger, if I could replace him with a young big Ayton+Oubre, or Bagley+Bogs, any move like that I would also pull the trigger..

Ben, Harris, Embiid, Horford, that experiment just doesn't look great right now.. As good as Ben is many teams aren't going to trade the farm for him because he can't shoot, Harris and Horford aren't landing major hauls either.. Embiid likely could, and they might only be a piece or two away if Ben and Horford can continually to play well together.

And I'm not saying you just jump the gun and get rid of him, but I would for sure listen to offers.
I think you ride this year out and see what happens which is likely going to be them not winning the East.

The Horford / Embiid appears to be a disaster fit despite it looking good on paper. The Horford/ Harris pair at the 4/5 makes more sense then the 3/4.

Lets assume Embiid comes back stays healthy and puts up similar stats. This offseason you could easily trade him for a massive package. The starting 5 of Ben, Richardson, Thybulle, Harris, Horford is already solid. You could easily trade him to a team and get 2 starters out it. I'm sure NO would offer you something around Jrue, and JJ.

Mitchell and Aaron Holiday were going at it last night. This was the most animated I've ever seen Spida, "Get him off me, he's too ****ing little" [emoji23]

NetsDaily has been amazing to read these last few days.

Really brings out the “fanatic” in the fans with their ridiculous takes.

Lack of another legit playmaker will be the reason that roster doesnt win a ring. Lakers dont have many ways they can attack you, its relying way too much on 35yo LBJ to make a play or score everytime down the stretch.

An extra play-maker wouldn't be utilized anyway if all they are going to do is force isos to AD every time LeBron sits. Whoever they try to add will have to be able to shoot and defend as much as play-make IMO.

I would also say the Boston game wasn't an indication of anything roster wise.. More so a lesson in don't be sluggish on defense against a team that wants to punch you in the mouth.

I'm ready to agree that Brett Brown should be fired.

No, I'm not ready to agree that they should keep Ben and trade Embiid.

And the question I ask all folks who recommend a coach should be fired:

Who would you replace him with and why would the replacement be better?

Even though the team has been in the basement for several years now, Lakers fans are not going to be satisfied with a loss this season in the WCF. This team as currently constructed is not winning the title.

The aforementioned playmaking/scoring guard and another committed 3/D wing defender are needed. I don't know how we're going to pull it off though with our lack of tradable assets.

Kuzma and Caruso or Cook or Rondo for D Rose and Morris is a hot rumor right now. And then signing Collison in FA.

And hoping no one actually trades for Iggy and signing him too

I don't know, Jerry Stackhouse, Jarron Collins, Ettore Messina or if they want someone with previous experience then Stan Van Gundy (sans the GM duties of course).

Basically anybody that isn't Brett Brown. Brown, out of his own admission, has failed to convinced Simmons to shoot even 1 three per game. That's just failure. It is time to move on to see if someone else can help to develop Embiid and Simmons' game even further. I don't know if Stackhouse (or the others that I mentioned) could do it, but it is clear so far that Brown hasn't been able to do it.

76ers seem to be clinging to Brown, in part, because of the whole "he was here through the bad times so we can't do him dirty now". Enough of that, he's had his chance. If he doesn't get to the Finals this year he should be out. Time for a new voice.

And certainly, I would prefer and it is my main point: no one should be traded from the current roster before another coach takes a crack at it; it is insane in my opinion to trade a talent like Embiid before a coaching change.

All the rumored Kuz trades for guys like Rose, Morris, Crowder, Covington make the Lakers worse long term, give them less tradable assets for after this season, and get them no closer to winning a championship this year. Awful trades.

Why does it matter if it makes them worse “in the long term” when THIS franchise in particular has always been about the short term?

They’re focused about winning a ring NOW(Lebron’s contract length)as long as Lebron is there so if that means they have to sacrifice some long term vision/plan/etc, then that’s what they’ll do.

And by long term, I mean 3-4+ years down the line.

And why did the league only schedule one game for tonight?

Because it doesn’t help them in the short term either.. you don’t make trades that jeopardize one if they are at best lateral at best in the other. None of those trades get them closer to winning a championship this season and gives them less trade pieces moving into this offseason. Two years in the LeBron timeline. Sure they would make a trade that hurts them long term IF it put them in position to get a ring now, none of those options do that. They are bad for the short term, bad long term, and bad immediately following this season.

                                Re: 1/15 - 1/27 Games Discussion Thread

Plus Kuzma’s play hasn’t even been the problem. It’s been finding a way to keep him in the mix when then team is full strength. They can’t get Kuz looks when they have AD and Bron both on the floor. If they can’t get him looks what makes them believe they can get looks for Crowder, Morris, Covington? What makes them think if they can’t put the ball in his hands they will take it out of Bron/AD’s hands for a guy like Rose? It just doesn’t make sense in terms of fit regardless.

Kuz has only played 30+ minutes in 5 games this season. In those 5 games he’s averaged 24 ppg on 49% from the field and 52% from 3. If they were to ship him off to a team like Detroit there is no doubt in my mind that he would go and put up 25 a night on a bad team much like Ingram is doing now. He’s a higher ceiling scoring and shooting threat than any of those guys are, he’s a better trade asset, and he fits defensively a bit better than most of them because they don’t need guys who can play down and guard the 4, they have Bron and AD for that. They need guys that can defend up, much like Kuz did on Westbrook the other night.

They might not win a ring this year, but other than Milwaukee they are in the same boat as any other of the top teams have been. A few nights where they look off. This team just came together, nobody is urging the Clipps to move Harrell, Pat, whoever every time they have a night where they don’t fit in as much. The benefit with a guy like Kuz is most of his issues are just learning and getting acclimated with the team. He has the rest of the season to pick up the right habits, he can get better in real time. With any of those trade options the team would just be what they are, with Kuzma they can get better each week that passes.

They are without a doubt ring or bust this year, but none of those moves get them closer than they are. They aren’t going to be huge odds favorites regardless. The big move for them will be this off-season. They will be over the cap and assuming AD stays will be able to add another full MLE player to pair with he and Bron. Which could be any of the trade rumor guys, or a player like them, at around 10-11 mil a year.. at that point they would still have Kuzma, making more money than he is now, easier to trade off for yet another important piece then if they so wish.. but zero reason to trade him this deadline, at least for any of those guys.
