As a spurs fan - I LITERALLY could not stand the Lakers from 1997-2003 - I have to admit since finding Christ I have mellowed a lot more in my sports passion towards opposing teams - As I grew as a man - a father - being surrounded with great leaders I began to appreciate those certain individuals who possess that “IT” factor and try to learn from them - I have to admit Kobe Bryant is one of them - I have 2 of his books and had purchased his shirt that has 8 & 24 on the back during his final season - Watching him in his final season you could see how time can take over an individual from all that has been invested into an art form - I cried watching his last game as he scored 60 points as he reminded the world of who he was as a basketball player - As he moved into retirement and poured his same passion into other areas that he did into basketball - it was an incredible thing to see - His “Dear Basketball” video is one of the best pieces of work I have seen and his Oscar goes to show for it - But the thing I loved watching the most about Kobe was his love for his kids and the way he would talk about Gianna - He ABSOLUTELY loved coaching that girl - I have 2 children of my own - Emerald & LJ - and I cannot imagine a world without them - People in interviews have mentioned about this “softer” side of Kobe - I like to think that this was a man of passion that loved and adored his family - I know that we don’t know these people on a personal level but the impact from loss of human life reaches to the core of human hearts - May our prayers go out to the Bryant family ❤️ #kobebryant #mamba4life #kobe8 #kobe24Comment

I've cried for the past 2 hours reading stuff on the internet and listening to sports radio.
I've had two favorite athletes in my long life. My daughter...and Kobe B Bryant.
He and his daughter were takin' from us today...and it's hit me hard.

When I was driving back home tonight, I spent most of that ride thinking about Kobe's death. I was never his biggest fan while he played, but I always had the utmost respect for his talent. Even still, when I first heard the news it was like getting stabbed in the stomach.
The death itself wasn't what hurt, because everyone dies at some point. It was the fact that I was was forced to reflect on what I truly thought about him in an instant. He's given us so many memories over his career, and many of them came flooding in. His toughness, work ethic, and desire to win are legendary. His impact on the game of basketball is one that very few players have even come close to achieving, and his loss will be felt throughout the sport for a long time.
This is the first death of a true basketball god.
RIP, Mamba. You will not be forgotten.Comment

Grizz and Suns did a 24 and 8 second violations to start the game.. Booker was choked up on the court. Can’t believe they are even having games.

Surreal day and one I would like to soon forget to say the least. Unexpectedly lost an uncle in his mid 50’s from a massive heart attack earlier in the day. Died right there on the basketball court during a weekly Sunday morning game of pickup ball. Then the news of Kobe and his young teenage daughter’s death started to filter in while trying to process everything else.

I have a 16 year old daughter who plays soccer.
I've been thinking of Kobe's final minutes with his daughter on the helicopter.
