They just need to adjust, period, and they eventually will.

They likely won't go undefeated, but winning the gold medal is still attainable with this group. Like Pack said, the Olympic organizers did team USA no favors by placing a lot of qualifying tournaments and other events during the NBA season (which was clearly intentional) and the world continues to catch up.

Plus, you throw in the pandemic (which meant little prep time or team USA workouts), losing out on the Curry, James, Harden, etc. level talent and that is recipe for struggling out the gate.

FIBA just like FIFA is a total racket.

I totally get where Duncan was coming from.
The fact that you can take the ball off the rim at any moment should raise some red flags with anyone. This rule alone is to **** any americans.

I think Pack post nails the situation perfectly.

The only reason I watch the FIBA is to watch players from other countries play. I think it's one of the coolest things is to see a player in a different setting.

I prefer FIBA style over NBA style TBH...the hitting the ball off the rim thing I could do without but the game is more physical. The NBA has let entertainment trickle into the rules and rewards all the foul-baiting we see nonstop now.

Watch those 2008 Olympic games...they're just so enjoyable.

I think there's a Luka quote from sometime in the last year or so where he said it's way easier to score in the NBA than in Europe.

Yeah, sure. Change the rim rule. Move the 3 point line to the NBA standard (higher standards).

        Change the goofy ball.

And keep the referees that seem to go out of their way to not give calls and we got the best from both worlds :P

It's fun that in the course of 20 years we went from American players getting in foul trouble because they defended too physically to Americans whining about not getting touch/star calls.

I would love for the NBA to implement FIBA goaltending rules, I've wanted that for years. NBA goaltending is too difficult and basically a judgment call (at least it can be reviewed these days) and kind of silly to begin with.

I'm all about middle ground. But it's about where you grew up. But I guess I've never seen anyone jump and hit a shot off the rim that means we don't get the below because a shot can't be completed that's just my 2 cents.

I agree the physical thing is hilarious. But I feel in the long run we can better basketball in the NBA. Players like Curry wouldn't exist. I feel like NHL and NFL all have gone through this.

They already played earlier and they beat Argentina 108-80.

Thanks... So confusing... I couldn't find it on any channel. Everything said 6. But then I just found something that says 1130

Guess I'll watch the whole game later. But here are the highlights

Looks like they were playing defense.

It's not even like FIBA rules are some massive jump in perimeter physicality, it's just the idea that a defender can put his body between you and the basket and take you off you driving path.

Funny thing is, the USA adapted a bit more today and still managed to get to the line by driving strong...no flailing or head jerks. Points were still scored.

It really does put a lens on how absurd things can get at times. Hope Silver is taking note.

I don't think Sliver even cares. He just wants no player injured. NBA is making money my man. Their product works.

                            Can't argue there.

Not one to rant usually but had to get it off my chest, lol
