Re: Is Ron Artest as good as Kobe/Tmac?
Great point. To say Artest is "not even close" is ridiculous. The man has a better all around game than both of them. And he only played 7 games this year but the man was averaging around 24 PPG, even while expending all the energy that he does on defense. Also, his ball handling is way underrated. He might look unorthodox but I bet you wont steal if from him. But he'll steal it from you though, heh. Hell, I'm not even that high on Tmac anymore. He doesn't seem aggressive enough and doesnt take it to the hoop enough for my tastes. Artest definitely goes to the basket.Originally posted by charles167Artest plays SF, but also has played SG in his career. As far as all around game, Artest is right there. Out of TMac and Kobe, Artest makes his team better. Neither Kobe or TMac do that on a consistent basis. Kobe and TMac are excellent offensive players but defense is horrible for both.
He's a good jump shooter, improved his 3 point shooting. He makes big shots and scores pretty much at will from the perimeter and overpowers everyone that that guards him in the post. Oh and did I mention that he uses both hands equally as well? He actually uses his left hand more than his right. The dude is just a beast.
If we're gonna argue that he's a SF than he's the best SF in the game(when he's playing, lol), and thats not arguable.Comment

Re: Is Ron Artest as good as Kobe/Tmac?
Artest is fundamentally better than KB and Mac, this is true. Defensively their is no comparison, however Kobe and Tmac are not horrible by any means, both are above average. Artest is good within the system he's in and because he plays along the likes of O'neal, Miller, Tinsley, and Jackson. Tmac and Kobe are the centerpieces of their respective offenses, they ARE their systems. They face doubles and triples everynight, they got the bullseyes on their backs, they are basically the sole creaters of their offense whether its finding a shot for themselves or others. I dunno how well artest would fare in houston or LA w/ the teams mac and kobe have... just a thought.Originally posted by charles167Artest plays SF, but also has played SG in his career. Re: Is Ron Artest as good as Kobe/Tmac?
Wow. I don't watch Pacer games, but from what little i've seen, I find it hard to believe that Artest makes his team more better than Kobe or Tmac. How do you define making his team better? Getting them involved? Being a "team" player? Jesus Christ Kobe averages over 6 assists a game and Tmac averages over 5. Artest averaged 3 this season, and his career average is right at that number. I think even offensivley, he's below kobe and Tmac. Like others said, he's not as explosive and not as athletic as kobe and mac.Originally posted by charles167Artest plays SF, but also has played SG in his career. there is no way in hell i rate artest at the same level tmac or kobe.
p,s and to think that he'd average the same as he did in his first 7 games @ 24.6ppg is ludacris. I bet in the first 7 games like 20 people averaged over 20ppg. his fg% @ 49% LOL i would think woudl go down too.Comment

Re: Is Ron Artest as good as Kobe/Tmac?
Well there was a stat caculated for Artest where he in a week he guared Kobe,Tmac, Francis, and Pierce for like a two week period. The most points scored by those guys was Tmac for 13pts. The group averaged like 10pts and 30% shooting while being guared by Artest. You can look all year long and you will not find anything comparable like this for Kobe or TMac. When a guy averages 24ppg and holds his opponent to 13ppg less than his season average and a horrible shooting percentage, I call that a great performance.Originally posted by darkwarriorWow. From your post, its obvious you have never watched a Pacer game. You have no idea what you're talking about.Originally posted by darkwarriorWow.
