Eric Williams wants to be traded

And though the Raptors didn't need another twist in their sordid saga, Williams delivered a zinger last night. Frustrated that his playing time has diminished to zilch, the highly touted veteran acquired in the Vince Carter trade said that he has demanded a trade through his agent.

"I need to get out of here, man," Williams said before the Raptors' 110-107 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. "If I'm not going to be a part of this team, I can go anywhere else and help a team out. I can go to New Orleans and help them out."
"I thought I was going to be a part of something, but I really ain't a part of nothing," Williams said. "So I'm pretty much wasting my f---in' time ... You try to be a professional, but f--- professionalism."

You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone in the NBA who'll say a word against Williams. He's the devoted father of his 10-year-old son Raquiesh, whose mother, Williams' one-time girlfriend, was killed along with two other women in 2003 in a tragedy that has left a man in jail facing 14 charges in connection with the deaths.

Williams eschewed more lucrative offers to sign with the Nets so he could raise his child in the familiar environs of the family's hometown of Newark. These days, Raquiesh, better known as Lil' E, is living with Williams' mother in New Jersey.

"I ain't on the court, and I'm away from my family," he said. "That's just doubled the (pain).

Yeah well his play doesn't deserve to be on the court compared to haffa recently.

I really think John Feinstein should come up to Toronto and write a season long chronicle of the team next year. The Raptors are a veritable Soap Opera.

There seems to be alot of problems in Toronto this year, but no one is putting any of the blame on Mitchell. Eric Williams, Rafer Alston, VC etc.... Other then VC, these two guys have been decent players who have never caused off the court problems. I find it strange that they both have spoken up with season.

Williams heart wasn't in it when he came to the Raptors which was reflected in his play. He was pretty upset leaving NJ. However Coach Mitchell still has alot to learn about what is needed to coach today's players. He's trying to be too old school with his players which won't work with today's millionaires. If you can alienate a veteran like Williams that quickly then you know it's time for an attitude change or he could be unemployed sooner rather than later. He's being as immature as a coach as Rafer is as a player.

One thing Mitchell does that's a big no-no is from day 1 he has called out almost every player on the team as well as ridiculing the team as a whole almost every week to the media. He should know better. That belongs behind closed doors. He would rather give funny quotes to the media about how bad his team is rather than doing something about it. He complains about the media but relishes the limelight so he can make a joke about his team and be on the highlights. It looks like the team has stopped playing for him as their effort on defense is pathetic and the team as a whole seem unprepared almost every game.

I don't consider Mitchell an old school coach. Heck he's only a few years removed as a player and has played against most of the players he coaches. Like you said the problem with Mitchell, is that he calls out his players in the media. Those type of things should be kept in the locker room. Eric Williams has been a solid guy all throughout his career so when he pipes up, it's a warning sign. There was an article in a Toronto paper today where he said you have to be an ahole (refering to Alston) to get attention.

I feel like ownership will stick it out with the Mitchell/Babcock regime for a few years to see how it all pans out. The Raps have gone through way too many coaches the past 3 years.
