Mitchell is way too emotional.Don't think he'll get fired, but to not blame him for some of the things that has happened wouldn't be fare to some of the players.

Re: Eric Williams wants to be traded
There seems to be alot of problems in Toronto this year, but no one is putting any of the blame on Mitchell. Eric Williams, Rafer Alston, VC etc.... Other then VC, these two guys have been decent players who have never caused off the court problems. I find it strange that they both have spoken up with season
Agreed.Comment

Re: Eric Williams wants to be traded
The Raptors will stick with Mitchell/Babcock simply to have some kind of stability. This team has seen far too many upheavals. I do agree that Mitchell has been calling out the players too often and making great quotes on TV. (I think he's the most quotable coach in the L) He needs to keep some of that stuff behind closed doors.
He may be being too old school as Yosemite Dan is saying. I remember before the season started that he would be borrowing a lot from Larry Brown. That is to say he's working the players to the bone and treating them pretty bad for the most part but only so he could instill some respect.
While I hate the coddling star players get I do think that Mitchell needs to balance things out. Other than that I think he's a pretty good coach considering it's his first year being a head coach.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Eric Williams wants to be traded
I'm not too familiar with Mitchell as a coach, but from reading what you guys are saying about him, he sounds alot like Byron Scott when he first got to NJ. he spoke alot about the players to the media, and though he sometimes had valid points, it did nothing but distance himself from that player.
He would talk about Marbury, Martin, Zoran Planinic etc.... Zoran who was a rookie when Scott was on the team said himself that Scott never even approached him behind closed doors to discuss whatever needed to be addressed.
I don't want to make false accusations, but this may be happening with the Raps. Like I said, Eric Williams is a very stand up guy, and though he was very upset to leave NJ, he accepted the fact that this is a business. To see him speak up was somewhat of a surprise.Comment

Re: Eric Williams wants to be traded
Hopefully Eric's wish will be answered. I think he's a good vet have around your team and I was surprised when he was in Jersey that he could play the 4 position. If I was Rod Thorn, I would do eveything to get him back, as he would be solid at the 3 for us. He brings alot of toughness to a team and any contending team who needs help at the 3 could use him.Comment
