I guess that this is a hot take, but will Trae end up being a Westbrook, puts up numbers, beloved by many, but dooms any coach who isn't empowered by the organization to rein him in.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I'm a huge fan of Steph Curry, but he's not immune to my criticism of those doggone lean-in foul draws at the 3-point line. I'm convinced it's going to take multiple defenders sustaining semi-serious facial injuries before anything changes on that front though. Steph just elbowed Schroder right in the face, drew a foul, Vogel challenged... and lost the challenge.

Agreed, but I was just about to post and ask you if you heard the explanation for why it wasn’t overturned. Because I’ve never heard it broken down that way.

It is a clear path imo.

I didn't have the volume up high enough to hear. Cliffnotes?

Schroder seems legit sad about the whole thing. Like deeply depressed lol.

The offensive player is allowed to move forward and there was no unnatural elbow movement. That's what I gathered.

I can answer this one lol

In all seriousness here is the big picture problem. The front office/owners /whoever is basically saying “look we didn’t make a mistake trading luka look at how greats Trae stats are”. For Trae to get this stats mixed with his limitations it just doesn’t make for winning games. You see games like tonight where he still leads the team In shots despite getting trapped for a lot of the game and is 2/9. He is a good passer and gets a lot of assist, but it’s not drive and kick assist as much as flashy lobs to Clint/John.

You also have to build your entire team around him which makes things extremely complicated. Everyone wants Atlanta to trade 4 quarters for a 1 dollar and get a star. What star players are on the market that are quality defenders?

Basically the offensive player can jump forward as much as they want so long as their not flaring elbows or anything like that. I guess that helps explain what can be a natural/unnatural shooting motion or who has right to that space. Idk I had just never heard someone say that before. As long as the shooting path is towards the basket.

That said, I thought Schroder had landed and avoided contact. He wasn’t under great control, but he wasn’t moving towards Curry anymore either. I thought he had already avoided all chances of a foul... Really surprised that wasn’t overturned.

Also Curry just drew anther on Caruso and I’m not sure there was any contact at all on that play. Lol

If that's legitimately how the rules are interpreted in the NBA right now then my retort is... they shouldn't be.

If you've got a game where one side is supposed to be trying to stop the other, it doesn't make sense to punish the defense for following the rules. This is not geared toward you since we're in agreement on this play but my question would be, what was Schroder supposed to do?! Are defenders supposed to just give up on closing out?

We're getting really close to a point where defenders aren't going to be able to get close enough to disrupt a shot without being unjustly punished. And at that point, it's just target practice for everybody. We might already be there.
