I think he means casual fan vs fan that likes to really get into the x's and o's of a basketball game.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

This whole debate is getting on everyone's nerves! Look, I've played both extensively, and I can tell you. They're both arcade games, with Live's being alot more fun. If you want stats, go get a PC text-based game. I can't believe that people's reason for defending 2K3 is that it has ralistic stats. REALISTIC? I could get Pierce or Fracis to score 60 points a game, is that realistic? No.

And for those who say 2K3 is all about the "x's and o's", their playbook is total crap. Not one play in there that actually tells people to set a screen off the ball. Live's playbook is filled with real NBA plays, and believe me, when you play on superstar level, you need them. I don't like to defend Live vs. 2K3, because I loved 2K3. But I don't like this whole "2k3 is a sim, Live is arcadey". I just don't buy it. They're both arcadey.

To me, actually, 2K3 just cheats to get real stats, whereas with live, what you see is what you get. You're open with a good shooter? It's going in. Take your point gaurd to the hole and miss with no one at the top of the key? Get burned on the break. Play smart ball, and the CPU CAN'T run on you. 2K3 actually makes you miss shots you would normally make just to keep the percentages real.

OMG!!!! I forgot about this one-&gt; When you drive in 2K3 and get fouled in the act of shooting, your missed shot counts in the stats!!!! I was playing with Pierce, attacking the basket relentlessly, had gotten to the line like 6-8 times, and the anouncer said that he was ice cold from the field! I thought well, he's got about 15 points, and has only missed 2 shots (that I knew of). But when I checked his stats they had counted everytime I went to the hole, got fouled, but missed the shot as an actual shot attempt. Now, for all you 2k3 NBA experts, you should know that when you get fouled in the act of shooting and miss the shot, the shot doesn't count. Kind of kills your whole "realistic stats" thingy..

Damn, why I gotta sound stupid? Allright after reading it, it does sound stupid but all I'm tryna say is after studying all these post everyone at first seemed to say 2k3 is on the mark with the realism, THEN everybodys sayin that they cheat to make the stats like that. And live at first was a pure dunk fest but after extensive play you spot the realism.
I dont own 2k3 and was considering it based off all the post I've been reading. Now I,m just not realising that niether game is perfect and to just settle with what you got.

ahh, poor silky. THis is bothering you way too much. I haven't even played Live. Any comment I've made about Live was based on what I've heard. My comment about x's and o's was just an attempt to clean up the original comment in this thread. It's a comparison not fact. X's and O's literally mean plays, but what I meant was calling plays, breaking people down with the triple threat position and jab step rather than crossover and spin move which IS more realistic. Missing open shots is also realistic. It's not about getting realistic stats, it's about stats being more realistic b/c a game plays closer to the way a real game plays. You don't miss shots or rebounds or anything to balance anything out. Momentum can affect a team and sometimes you just miss shots. Whether it's not releasing at the top of yoru jump or not being WIDE open like you think you are, players don't make every shot.

If you like Live, that's great. Talk about why you like live so people considering the game can use that when making a decision. Same for 2k3. If you ASSUME they are doing something then put that key word in there so people don't take it as fact. I run the plays, play it like a real game would be played and shoot around 50 to 55% and usually only miss layups/dunks when I double clutch to try to draw the foul. Your experience is not shared with everyone.

if you read gameinformer the elaborate on how its becoming more homogenized which is to say in most cases people are trying to match 2k3
