I think he means casual fan vs fan that likes to really get into the x's and o's of a basketball game.

This whole debate is getting on everyone's nerves! Look, I've played both extensively, and I can tell you. They're both arcade games, with Live's being alot more fun. If you want stats, go get a PC text-based game. I can't believe that people's reason for defending 2K3 is that it has ralistic stats. REALISTIC? I could get Pierce or Fracis to score 60 points a game, is that realistic? No.
And for those who say 2K3 is all about the "x's and o's", their playbook is total crap. Not one play in there that actually tells people to set a screen off the ball. Live's playbook is filled with real NBA plays, and believe me, when you play on superstar level, you need them. I don't like to defend Live vs. 2K3, because I loved 2K3. But I don't like this whole "2k3 is a sim, Live is arcadey". I just don't buy it. They're both arcadey.
To me, actually, 2K3 just cheats to get real stats, whereas with live, what you see is what you get. You're open with a good shooter? It's going in. Take your point gaurd to the hole and miss with no one at the top of the key? Get burned on the break. Play smart ball, and the CPU CAN'T run on you. 2K3 actually makes you miss shots you would normally make just to keep the percentages real.
OMG!!!! I forgot about this one-> When you drive in 2K3 and get fouled in the act of shooting, your missed shot counts in the stats!!!! I was playing with Pierce, attacking the basket relentlessly, had gotten to the line like 6-8 times, and the anouncer said that he was ice cold from the field! I thought well, he's got about 15 points, and has only missed 2 shots (that I knew of). But when I checked his stats they had counted everytime I went to the hole, got fouled, but missed the shot as an actual shot attempt. Now, for all you 2k3 NBA experts, you should know that when you get fouled in the act of shooting and miss the shot, the shot doesn't count. Kind of kills your whole "realistic stats" thingy..
