Most of it is mental than it is skill though.

Based on his form though, plenty of it is physical lol.

I see a lot of Philly fans and fans in general saying Simmons needs to stay aggressive. It's tough to do that when you shoot 32% from the charity stripe. Hell, it's a charity for the opposition when he goes there.

He has the skill to be a dominant player, he just doesn't have the mindset.

One thing I keep seeing it that he is shooting with the left hand even though he is a righty. I saw someone say that and it is true. He shoots shots with the left hand even though he is a right. He probably always have done that, but he needs to switch it to his dominant hand

Ben is someone who really needs to be humbled to take the next step. Joel got humbled with the Kawhi shot, getting swept in 1st round, and not making any of the All-NBA awards. Which is why, he took that next step.

For Ben that might be getting traded. Before a lot would question the Simmons-Embiid pairing and if it was a fit. The bigger problem is that Ben automatically submits. He knows it's Joel team. There were games when Joel was out when Ben actually steps it up. He might have to be in a situation where he knows he has to be the man to win games.

Mental is a big thing in professional sport. You can work on it too so it's not an excuse.

                1. Easier said than done.

                2. Easy for us to sit behind a keyboard and it’s not an excuse for someone to work on their mentals. Everyone is different and it’s not that black/white. And I used to be one of those folks who were like “Go to the gym and shoot FT all day everyday and problem solved”.

Too many armchair psychologists out here(not calling you one, speaking in general)and it’s hella wild/annoying.

Is Simmons that cocky or arrogant? He seems to always play hard, be a team-first guy, etc. Sure, he has some swagger on the court but most good NBA players do. I truly think this is more about his limitations as a player once again being exposed in the playoffs.

His biggest problem is that his weaknesses as a player cause major issues in the postseason. In a series where he can't be an effective playmaker and have a reasonably high usage rate, his value plummets. He can't space the floor or give you much off the ball. He disappears for long stretches. That's not even getting into his FT issues. He morphs into a good role player in too many playoff matchups. You basically have a really good, versatile 7' defender who can give you some rebounding and playmaking.

It's easy to put blame on Doc, Embiid, or Simmons but more heat needs to be directed towards the guy that is making $33.5 million this year and put up 4/4/3. Dude averaged 22 PPG in the first 4 games and then only gets 4 in this critical game?

Blame should go to him IMO, that's inexcusable, especially with that contract he conned them into.

The Doc stuff is low-hanging fruit IMO. People just run with it for likes on social media and it's basically meme-level, though he certainly deserves his share of the blame. But the folks who are laughing and blaming this entirely on Doc don't know what they're talking about.

We know what he is: he's a solid coach who's not great at Xs and Os, not great at adjustments. A friend in our hoops chat was killing Doc last night and at one point he said, "The Sixers woulda swept this series if Pop was the coach". Gee, if arguably the best coach of all time was on the sideline it would have helped? You don't say lol.

                        Again...
                        • 4/4/3 for Harris
                        • 8/4/9 for Simmons
                        • 23/38 FT
                        • Embiid going 0/12 in the second half of Game 4.

There comes a point where players just have to get it done, but Doc really needs to kill that all-bench lineup.

I watch a lot of the Sixers post game conferences and stuff. Ben does come off like an a**hole at times. But that's most players are like that. He's one of the players who was seen as the next big thing since a young age.

That's his problem. He plays like a good role player instead up to his potential.

I get what you are saying but maybe that guy will never be great then. The mental aspect is huge in professional sport.

I dont think Tobias should be killed. Hes a good player who was paid what the market dictated. Ben and Joel are the star players and who get most of the shine on the team. Joel is dinged up but he has balled out this series.Tobias needs to step it up for sure but I do think Doc, Ben (especially) and Joel are recieving appropriate heat. Especially after Doc chastised a reporter a week or two ago about Ben's free throws.
