The pressure of the playoffs does expose something about players that the regular season doesn't. However, imo it shouldn't be so overemphasized that it negates the player's overall improvement or production during the season.

Well, part of the "problem" is that the top guys aren't being paid what their true value. LeBron shouldn't be making 40M, he should be making at least 60M (this has been estimated) but due to the artificial cap on contracts top guys are underpaid which leaves money to overpay other players. But since nobody is going to cry a tear because Bron is making 40M then that's that.

Thing is Ben's contract is due to the Max extension or whatever, Sixers gambled on Ben continuing to improve and he has stalled.

Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball have a lot in common don't they ? Their game are kinda similar.

Shouldn't absolve Joel. He had 16 turnovers the last 2 games. He either foul hunts or settles for bad shots. He plays smaller than his size. He takes too many 15+ foot shots. He plays hero ball too often. But having an elite shot creator would really benefit him

A lot of Joel's aggressiveness left with his meniscus tear. Didn't want to fall or bang knees with anyone. They need to take that top of the key iso post up out of the playbook though.

Also last Doc wanted to preserve him more for the 4th quarter, so he didn't get as many post ups throughout. But would have liked them to take advantage of OO guarding him

On one hand I get it: in today's NBA it's more difficult to get bigs like Embiid space to operate. He's catching the ball in motion after the down screen, it's not as easy for the defense to double it or prevent a catch. It's generally easier to pass out of a double from the middle of the court than the block.

But on the other hand...I don't want my banged up 7'2 center isoing off the dribble from 15' out with the season on the line, but that's a big part of Embiid's game.

                          A $40M All-Star taking 3 shots in the 4th quarter of 7 games has nothing to do with over-analyzing a player. It's a travesty.

You can't have a player of that caliber afraid to touch the ball so that he won't get sent to the line.

It's not an overaction in the least. It's a disservice.

Shaq was a liability at the end of games and was benched in his prime. But guess what, he was beasting for 3.5 quarters, getting the other team into foul trouble and shot a higher FT % than Ben.

Yes it's easy for us to get caught up in the moment. But this was an historical kind of bad. He was fully healthy and literally unplayable at the same time.

You do that at work and they should get rid of you.

EDIT: We know he can't shoot from the field. Fine.
But he passed up a dunk.
I don't want to hear anything else.

It's also the third straight postseason (and under two different coaches) that Simmons' game has suffered in the playoffs. This is one of those rare situations where everyone piling on a player is justified.
