For sure, but glad it’s just a game.

Hawks looking like a one hit wonder so far this year lol. Solomon Hill might be the worst player who actually gets minutes in the entire league.

11/2 - 11/15 Games Discussion Thread
Damian Lillard scored 27 points in a loss to the Clippers Tuesday night, and he shot one free throw. Lillard is averaging 3.2 free throw attempts a game for the season, four fewer a night than the 7.2 a game he shot last season. It’s been part of an overall slump in his offensive game to start the season, and against the Clippers he was 4-of-13 from three to continue that trend.
“I feel like the way the game is being officiated is unacceptable,” Lillard said. ” I don’t want to go too deep into it so they make a big deal out of it, but the explanations, the s*** that’s getting missed, I mean, come on. I felt like coming in, the rule change wouldn’t affect me, because I don’t do the trick the referees, I don’t do the trick plays, and t’s just unacceptable. Then the explanations and the remarks in return when you tell them is just like [Lillard shrugs]. I don’t even have nothin’ else to say about it.”
Lillard will be paying a fine to the league for that.
This season, the NBA directed referees to stop calling fouls on non-basketball-related moves, such as players leaping unnaturally forward into defenders to draw a foul, or kicking their legs out to draw contact with a defender otherwise in a legal position.
However, some players have a sense that with that, the referees are allowing a new level of physicality from defenders. It’s not just the non-basketball moves that are not drawing a whistle, actual fouls are going uncalled as well. James Harden has been the most vocal critic of the new officiating style, and when he did get a call Monday night it led to sarcastic cheers from him and his teammates."I felt like coming in, the rule change wouldn't affect me, because... I don't do the trick plays, and it's just unacceptable."

It’s interesting how Doc can get a team with no stars playing to overachieve but when he actually has a talented roster on the court, he underachieves like a MF.#RespectTheCultureComment

It's interesting how some players are melting down when getting just a taste of old school NBA physicality.Jordan Mychal Lemos

We’re not at old school physicality but there are some clear calls that have been missed in games under the impression from the refs that players are trying to draw them cheaply.
I think it happens whenever there’s an adjustment to the rules that people forget refs in sports are prone to human error anyway and do miss clear fouls sometimes.
I don’t think Dame has ever been a foul bait kind of guy so I can’t really justify why he’s not getting the calls he used to. He’s one of the genuine logo threats in the league and has maybe leaned into that a little too much in recent seasons so his free throw attempts will drop as a result. But he’s flat out struggling this season anyway and is missing shots he would make previously, I think he’s just giving himself an excuse.
Dame still generally has not been bad. He’s currently averaging a career high in assists, still a really low turnover player and he’s only slightly less efficient than he normally is from 2. It’s just that he’s so high volume (52% of his shots) from 3 that when they’re not falling - and they’re really not falling - it drags his whole production down.

It’s going to balance out by mid season.
And I imagine more players feel that way but have kept quiet for whatever reason. It’d be naive of us to think it’s only a few players that this bothers just because they’re the only ones speaking out publicly.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 11/2 - 11/15 Games Discussion Thread
I've noticed some situations where contact isn't called that would have been a foul in any era though. It's a weird mix of things going on right now. In general things like hand checks, or two arms on a player with his back to the basket are loosely outlawed by new NBA rules so we still get less of that in terms of overall "physicality", as well as no hard fouls for fear of flagrants... Meanwhile a guy going up for a shot can get fouled by any context of any rules and nothing because maybe his arms were up under a defenders just close enough to border on "foul baiting" that they aren't even calling an obvious foul even by 80's standards a foul even if it's just calling it on the floor... It's a weird mix we are getting right now. Might take another year or so until this smooths out to something that makes complete sense.Comment

I'm over Hill getting any minutes who always seems to find a way to play even when he is the 13th best guy on the team. Last night he was just playing because 2 starters were hurt still I would throw out the rookie.

Re: 11/2 - 11/15 Games Discussion Thread
Years and years of letting guys overstep is what led to this, so pardon me if I don't feel bad that an attempted correction is overstepping here and there. Offensive players still have an insane advantage compared to previous generations. No one wants to see guys drive past defenders and get "fouled" over and over and over. Some of these videos people are outraged over are so soft lol.Comment

Most people don’t know what they want.
They want high scoring, but not TOO much scoring. They tough defense but not TOO tough. If you were to ask someone to their face what would be the perfect balance where they wouldn’t complain at all, it would take them about 10-15 mins to explain#RespectTheCultureComment

One thing I've noticed Harden finally doing is going to the block vs smaller players. He did this one year in Houston. Stopped on the back end of the season.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories
