Re: 11/30 - 12/13 Games Discussion Thread
Not sure Grant helps them that much. They need somebody that can guard guys that Bojan is too slow to guard.. that’s not Grant.
And he doesn’t shoot, pass, or anything we’ll enough to take minutes from Ingles or Bojan.Comment

On the contrary I really have soured on Ingles the past couple years. He's been bad defensively for a while, he's serviceable in rotations but that's it. Grant would be a huge upgrade over him

Re: 11/30 - 12/13 Games Discussion Thread
Defensively yes, but Ingles is a better shooter, your best ball handler and playmaker off the bench, and you’re not trading for Grant to play 6th/7th man. Getting Grant doesn’t make you a better perimeter defensive team. He’s guarding the same matchups Bojan does. He’s a defensive upgrade over Ingles, but doesn’t really fix your main concern and makes you worse elsewhere.Comment

He would upgrade any playoff team.Last edited by jeebs9; 12-09-2021, 09:44 PM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: 11/30 - 12/13 Games Discussion Thread
Utah's bench outscored Sixers 46 to 31. Utah is definitely a dangerous team. Typical Tobias game where he gives an efficient 17, but leaves you wanting more. The team shooting 18% from 3pt doesn't help. But Sixers definitely need to upgrade the Wing. If Danny isn't hitting shots, he isn't giving you much offensivelyComment

Re: 11/30 - 12/13 Games Discussion Thread
Man people are sleeping on Grant if they think this. I can't even believe that coming from you or all people. But if this what your think then so be it. Grant is much better than that. Nuggets were the best when they had him. And I was basically shocked he took a deal with the Pistons. He's been their best player on both sides of the floor.
He would upgrade any playoff team.
Nuggets also had a healthy Murray Jeebs lol… they actually won more games the year after Grant even with Murray missing half the year.
I’m not saying Grant isn’t better than those guys, he is, that’s why he’s a “first option” player on a team right now. But he’s not a player that makes Utah better. He isn’t playing SF and locking up 3s and 2s on the wing that are quicker than him. That’s not his game, meaning wherever he goes he’s defending 4s, some slow 3s, and small 5s.. again not what Utah needs and not something that Bojan, Gay, even Ingles to an extent can’t already do. And we don’t even know truly how well he does that as Detroit is not a better defensive team for having him and Denver got better on that end after he was gone so..
He’s not a good off ball player, he’s not a good shooter. He’s a guy that can go get you 20 on a horrible team fine, but he’s not a guy who can get you 15-20 as a 4th option knocking down 7% TS above league average. Bojan shoots better, passes better, moves without the ball more, defers more, he’s absolutely a better 4th option level guy. Grant was a 12 a night guy who wanted more touches and didn’t want to settle into that role.. otherwise Denver would have kept him.
Ingles is a bit different, the gap between them is actually there. But Ingles is also the best passer Utah has, their best backup ball handler and playmaker, and statistically one of the best shooters in league history.. it’s debatable if Grant is an upgrade for that role on that team, but even if he is he’s not accepting a 6th man role, it doesn’t make sense to start him over Bojan, and it doesn’t make sense to start them both because he’s a worse shooter and slower defender than O’Neale on a team where we’re saying defending the perimeter is the weakness. He didn’t want to even be a 3rd/4th option, he definitely isn’t going to play behind all of Mike, Clarkson, Mitchell, Bojan, maybe even Rudy in terms of his offensive involvement. And he’s not a stand still catch and shoot guy.
I’m not saying he isn’t good. James Harden is a better player than Klay Thompson. That doesn’t mean Golden State would trade Klay for James and lose all the stuff that makes Klay a better fit on that team. I don’t see how Grant makes them any better in any area that they are currently lacking. And losing Bojan or Ingles gives Utah new holes that they don’t currently have that Grant doesn’t fill.Comment

Re: 11/30 - 12/13 Games Discussion Thread
LeBron finally showing his age at 37 and still not being the biggest issue for the Lakers is a problem.
Anthony Davis has been terrible pretty much since they won the championship. It’s like he checked out after that because he’d done what he set out to do.
Then the roster is just bad. Talent is there, to an extent, but there hasn’t been any consideration to how they would all fit together. I’ve been critical of the Lakers summer pretty consistently all season so far and we’ve seen bad starts from LeBron teams (Cavs we’re 19-20 at one point in his first year back) but he can carry them back into the playoffs. I’m just not seeing that being possible now.
